Here's a list of coding concepts you should focus on understanding as a beginer: 1. variables 2. datatypes (int, string, list etc) 3. control flow, ie if statements, conditional statements 4. for and while loops 5. object-oriented programming (classes, objects) 6. functions and methods (and what is their difference)

Keep at it. It took me 6 months to finish it. I highly recommend looking at Bro Code's channel to help with some of the coding. CS50 is quick paced and David's lectures don't give you starting points. It will be worth it, more or less. Just be gentle on yourself. All the best.

Previously learnt Python, R and MATLAB back in school, but my body and soul largely rejected it (possibly because I got bad grades for those classes 😅, and also I didn’t have a strong purpose behind taking those classes). Recently, I started doing the Complete 2022 Web Development Bootcamp taught by Dr Angela Yu on Udemy with the intention of going into freelance web development, and this time… this feels different. I have a good feeling about this. I’m about 3 weeks in now, and just yesterday, I secured a micro-gig to help fix up a tiny section of the website for a local business in my area. 🎉🎉 Honestly, the advice given in this video is gold. I’ve followed some of it and found some success. Who knows how much more all of us can achieve by completing all of these steps. Cheers guys and girls, we got this 💪🏼

I've done a Java course with Codecademy but didn't really enjoy it. I completed Harvard's CS50 course which as you say, is difficult. I struggled. I'm 41 years old so maybe that's a factor. For a while I struggled with a very boring Udemy course on Java. Yesterday I signed up with Zero to Mastery and I feel like a new man already. Refreshing, engaging, useful. Oh, and I'm glad I found this channel. Great advice - thank you Tuomas.

Excellent video, my friend. The most important part is the 'intro'. Anyone learning anything (for example: learn to program) needs to take a step backwards and self-reflect about the reason and motivation behind these endeavors. Having the ability to use my computer as a tool to create things is my motivation. Getting a job in this field will happen eventually, but for now, I am enjoying the incremental progress from my studies; it's a marathon, not a race. I am not going to get 1st place in this marathon but I will make it to the finish line.

its not fluff its the truth. if you lack passion for what you're doing, you will not have that driving force to get off the ground when you hit rock bottom. being in it to make money is not good enough, you have to want to do this even if it paid minimum wage. that's true passion.

@anoridinaryhumanbeing702 жыл бұрын
DSA is about knowing the essential concepts and practicing leetcode problems. It is about problem solving.. c++ / java are 'languages' -- they have nothing to do with DSA as such. Language is about the syntax -- not problem-solving. So it doesn't really matter(definitely so for a beginner like you) as to whether you choose cpp or java for DSA -- focus on practicing leetcode instead! Btw, once you've mastered the problem-solving ability by consistent practice like Internet Made Coder,, learning another 'language' and shifting your DSA practice to that one would be pretty easy -- so just start already with either(my thing is Python tho)! Good luck :)
