Before the Straight Outta Compton debut, there really was no reason to expect there to be much of an acting ability from O’Shea Jr. I know he studied screenwriting at USC, but no one really believed that he’d be able to just walk right in and pick up on it as well as he did. He’s had roles in several movies in the last 8 years, which is a testament to his acting ability. I personally liked his role in Den of Thieves.

'Oshea' as a first name is biblical, coming from the verb yasha', meaning “to save". It's also Ice cube's 'government name'. Maybe Cubes parent were very religious?
