Grandma in Spanish is "Abuela", but here in Mexico we don't usually call that our grandmas because it sounds too rude. We usually call them "Abuelita", which literally means "Little Grandma", or we simply call them "Abue"

In Brazilian Portuguese we usually use Vovó for Grandma and Vovô for grandpa. This is the diminutive form of Avó and Avô, which are the actual words. But we also really like to shorten our words, so we often use the term "Vó" and "Vô" to call them too. 🥰

The book comes from a TV show we have here in the UK call ‘Q.I.’ which stands for Quite Interesting, it’s a panel show where guests get asked questions based on a theme for that particular episode and it usually shows that what we think we know is wrong! General Ignorance is the final round of each show and is a quick-fire round that almost always catches the guests out with their usually wrong answers. Keep up the good work Jeanie, I discovered your channel last year and really enjoy what you do.

@@supaflyza hello! I'd love to hear about your friend! But anyway , my grandma lives in the US. She immigrated in the late 60s. To be honest, she's just not a good woman, especially the older she got. I understand but it was very harmful to me.
@supaflyza Жыл бұрын
@@AutumnsVeil. ah ok. Sorry to hear. I had very bad experiences growing up with my father's parents who were very cruel to me, especially his mother, so I can empathise with you. 🤗 My friend and her parents moved to South Africa when she was about 7, leaving her grandparents behind in Poland. When she was older she realised that her grandparents (especially her grandmother) were becoming lot more conservative and religious. After her grandfather passed away her grandmother become ultra religious, but very far right conservation catholic due to some radio station that started gaining popularity in Poland. My friend's aunt and uncle moved in with her grandmother to look after her for a while and they introduced her to this radio station. I think she had less to do after her husband's death and thanks to their influence ended up listening to it for many hours a day. Needless to say she went from being open minded and liberal to very right wing conservative - as did the aunt and uncle. It was sad for my friend as she isn't religious and is quite liberal. Her relationship with her grandmother deteriorated quite badly because of the religious issue and their different beliefs. Her grandmother become very critical of almost everything in her life. It was very sad to see. 😕

Hi! But she was really kind and gentle and vibrant and let us kids have so much fun. She always had a drawer full of candy that she kept fully stocked for the grandkids. She loved fashion and beatiful things and she had these slik scarves that were probably expensive but she would tie them to these stick things and let me and my sister run around with them. There was a book we read when we were small where they did that and she would alway indulge us. was really beautiful and elegant and stylish, that is probably the things about you that reminds me most of her. I imagine that if we had a chance to get older together and I got to know her better that she would be very similar to you.

Hi wonderful Jeannie Thanks for another stunningly relaxing video, from the very opening sentence and tapping the tingles were overwhelming. I thought I'd outgrown or lost the ability to feel ASMR...then along you came and ASMR returned bigtime. ❤️ In Welsh, Grandmother is "Mam Gu" (pronounced Mam Gee as lower case G for goat not as J for general)

To answer the question about grandmas at the start- I'm a Mexican-Filipino-American. In Spanish, it's typically abuelita, not abuela as it's seen as too proper I'm pretty sure (it'd be like calling your parents Madre or Padre, so Apa, Ama, or any other variant is used). But my whole family calls my abuelita "Mama (her name)". We call her this as she was kind of the head of the family haha- she was very strong willed throughout her life! While in Tagalog (filipino language), I call my grandma "Lola"! 😊

I’ve wanted to say this but was unsure until you said you love being called grandmother terms. I’m 29 and fortunate enough to still have 3 grandparents alive, but my paternal grandmother is far gone with Alzheimer’s. She started to decline badly when her husband of 60 years passed a few years ago. Anyway, her mind is pretty much gone now. It has been absolutely devastating to witness and I miss her much at times. In some ways you remind me of her and I find it extremely comforting.

Aww, I’m sorry about your grandma. I hope you have wonderful memories of her when she was in her prime. 💕💖💕

In zulu grandma is pronounced 'Gogo', similar to Nana I think the word was created with children in mind.

In Romanian grandmother is bunica. Some people say buni or buna (which is loosely translated as "good one". Miss mine ❤

I got the mosquito and reindeer ones right 😆 In Finland we call our grandmas either mummo or mummi, depending on the dialect. Some people also say "isoäiti" which translates to grandmother. I knew the reindeer question because there's a lot of reindeer herders here in Lapland and Sami people have been herding reindeer here wayyy before Finland even existed
