That's not entirely true, Hyderabad, was a very rich princely state. And had an almost monopoly on diamond mines at that time. Many Hindus especially urban ones were afraid the wealth would be taken out and spread across India; and a loss of culture (Hyderabad being a princely state maintained a lot of pre-colonial culture)@@rahuln8605
