10:38 i don't understand why so many producers are doing this. 1. the lowest note in a chord isn't always the most "dominant" 2. imagine the baseline in a rocksong would just follow the chords, that would be boring as hell

@Chris Engle The analogy would make more sense if the doctor had a grid that highlighted where he should cut etc. That's what the scale helper does. It just shows you which notes are in what scales, why memorize it when you can just chose what scale you want and have it right there for you?
@punu3675
@punu3675 Жыл бұрын
@Chris Engle no it’s very tedious and not needed anyway, its a minor thing and it only takes 2 seconds to Look up and it won’t affect your musical skills. Comparing it to being a doctor is very dumb due to the sheer amount of knowledge and precision a doctor needs to have and all you’re doing is working on music, you aren’t trying to improve/ save a human life

The names of the scales come from the places in Anatolia (currently Turkey). All the scales are based on the music that people played in certain areas of Anatolia. For example, the phyrigian scale is from Phyrgia.

they call these types of scales "modes". There are 7 different modes and in the key of C major, every note up the scale is a new mode. C to C is Ionian, D to D is Dorian, etc. Little facts like this change the game but aren't needed to be successful

everything between Dorian and Locrian at the end of that drop down scale list @3:00 are NOT scales. they are Greek modes. there are seven them. and just like scales there are seven notes per octave in them they can be thought of as playing scales over the chords that belong to a different scale.

No! No! No! Producers I wouldn’t recommend asking your artist what vibe they are going for because 80% of the time you ruin that vibe and then the artist will say, “I don’t know.” That’s YOUR job as the producer to make the vibe and the artist will be inspire from that.
