2:44 instead of removing the knuckle here. I typically just use a jack and a 2x4 and I jack up the coilover and smack it to one direction to get it out of the knuckle. - I know it’s a little sketchy but it’s so much easier then removing the knuckle
@stancdpandxidk915210 күн бұрын
like through the knuckle? im waiting till the summer to install some coils

@keeplearning4L10 ай бұрын
idk if you will see this but when i installed my coils, i separated the housing where that 17mm is by using a flat head. even a little bit of tension or force should allow you to have the coil slip right into the socket on knuckle. just some food for thought

The stock wheels are sick on the civic. Might be the first generation I wouldn’t bother changing. Width would be the only issue but I’m sure some wider replica versions are out there.

Hey man! This video is REALLY helpful! I was attempting my 3rd coilover install on my 23 crv but got damn I couldn’t figure out what else to take off for clearance to remove the strut, AXLE DUH I was 1 BOLT away lmaooo. Put my stocks back on, today I did the rear, tomorrow I’ll tackle the front, appreciate you!

Will need this for installing D2 springs. I havent worked on any car before so this is my first time ever. Hope its the same process and steps.
@GavinCacciotti11 ай бұрын
With installing springs, you have to take apart the factory strut which is a lot more annoying and sketchy sometimes
@GavinCacciotti11 ай бұрын
As with aftermarket coil overs, you just swap the entire assembly out which is way easier

@darrenlau277810 ай бұрын
Thanks for the detailed steps on the front. I have a 10th gen and am going to install springs and camber adjustable ball joints. Seperating the axle from the knuckle is necessary to remove the ball joint and makes removing the strut so much easier as well. Nice work 👍

I don't think the coilovers matter. Depends on the wheel width and offset and tire size that you want to use.

On the rears, when you swapped out the top hats I'm 99% sure the rubber bushing underneath it is supposed to be moved to the new shock as well. 16:12 you can clearly see that there is an empty space without the bushing. This will leave the entire weight of the vehicle on just the shaft & aluminum top mount.
@GarageBuiltHondas Жыл бұрын
The Rev9 have the bumpstop under the protective sleeve already. Adding this would've meant the car rode around on 2 bumpstops and on the stops all the time.
@estewar03 Жыл бұрын
@GarageBuiltHondas but it's not a bump stop, it's part of the mounting. As you pointed out earlier on the bump stops are on the actual piston portion of the strut where it would do something. Like you mentioned in your reply, it would always rest on the upper mount like it's supposed to, because there is no suspension travel there so there wouldn't be movement 😉

Welcome to the nightmare that is VW-like suspensions. The fronts suck. My MK6 and MK8 GTIs have the same style. I have a set of springs for the mk8 that have been collecting dust in the garage because they're such a pain to install. Also, on the rear...threaded shock and threaded spring perch is meant for setting correct preload for the rear suspension. Use the spring perch to adjust the ride height with the weight of the car on it, then thread the shock to match the ride height.
