The Lakers just completed an up and down season that the L.A. fans, the majority of the press and two 40 to 50 million dollar a year players seemed to have blamed solely on Ham. Now Buss and Pelinka are really truly considering hiring a Podcaster that has only coached his kid and a bunch of 3rd or 4th graders. I am a long time Laker fan but this right here is CLIPPER like behavior. If this coaching hire doesn't work out then Pelinka needs to pack his bags with the next fired coach no matter who he hires.

I listened to the entire podcast. It didn't even seem that was a podcast primarily about Jj Redick, as the topic heading seem to indicate. However, what is glaring, is the omission of Mark Jackson as a potential candidate for Lakers head coaching job, among a long list of names you mentioned, even though you do not like him as a candidate, he deserves a mention like all the others mentioned. Now that the podcast is ending in the last minute, i now see why his name wasn't mentioned. Yes, we all have our preferences, and good thing Lakers front office won't be listening to you to make a decision. It's a fans podcast, and we expect at least objectivity.
@LockedOnLakers4 ай бұрын
The reason we don’t talk about Jackson as a candidate for the job is that no outlet anywhere has reported the Lakers plan to interview him, far as I know. There’s interest from a segment of fans, but that’s it. When we talk about Jackson, it’s in response to that fan interest. But that’s why we don’t include him in the rest of the conversation. If that changes, and he becomes a more legitimate candidate, we’ll include him. BK

My preference (and ultimate dream) would be for Jeanie to actually get an experienced head of basketball operations that has a grasp of running an organization and get Bob Meyers to call all the shots. That said, it's just a pipe dream. She is too comfy with what she has and JJ has LeBron's blessing, so I expect this to be the choice.

He did video… Not saying JJ will hit, but if he does I can’t wait to look at the comment section who seems to know anything about JJ. Edit: Of course, it’s risky. But I would contend that with a coach, it might actually be good to let LeBron and AD have input. LeBron has only “picked” one coach in his career. Truly. That was Ty Lue. In Miami, Riley came down to coach on their Wade title run.. So everyone forgets that he was on thin ice the whole time. (Bron left Miami because he wanted to return to Cleveland… that’s really the FULL reason.) Those guys might know more than us… just saying.

@LockedOnLakers4 ай бұрын
I agree. There was a lot of "if" in what I was talking about. I suspect in the end (and said so) that they'll interview the assistants as well. My point was twofold - first, if as a couple people have reported the Lakers are looking at those two as leading candidates, I do think Redick will absolutely get the job. But even if they widen it out, and again, I think they will, if Redick is receiving a sort of early most-favored status, even if the other guys are good it could be hard to overcome. I hope the process looks pretty conventional by the end of it, and think the odds favor it. But JJ is the sort of quasi-celebrity star coach in this cycle, and the Lakers love that. And he will kill the interview, in part because he'll know how to talk in ways Pelinka will like. Appreciate you watching, and the comment! BK
