This restomoded '70 Mustang was the first properly powerful red-light racer from the golden era of American muscle that we've ever driven. The rain, the twisty back roads and ungrippy tyres didn't exactly fill us with confidence from the start. But should one soil ones trousers when encountering the aforementioned conditions in something that, to be honest, was designed to go in a straight line? We went to investigate.

Great to have you back. Although you are a couple of nerds I appreciate your contribution to the YT carscape very much and I enjoy your videos from the execution and content standpoint. Also, you're Funnish which makes everything just that little bit better. I hope you will not drop off like this anymore and supply us with some content even if it is a few vids a year or so. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks! Don't worry, we will drop a video every now and then in the future. The algorithm based weekly video fake-smile grind just isn't for us, we both have full time jobs etc. So we'll still film stuff that we actually enjoy filming, and I hope us enjoying it does show in the end product!

I had a '70 Mustang coupe with a 351 in the '80s. I sold it for $2,500 in 1985 to go to college. It was in excellent condition. It was one of 5 first generation Mustangs I owned in the '70s and '80s.

I had a 70 "notch back" as well. I had some help putting a 351 Windsor in it and it was a blast. But I was going to get married, so I sold it 😢

People always say the 69 looks better than the 70. And I'll give them that. In the fastback. But the 70 notchback with the blinker delete is just one mean looking bastard.

Why did the person who did the restomod remove the seat belts??
@jasonwilson4724

Probably because from the factory it would have just had lap belts, which are more dangerous than not wearing a belt at all

Old American muscle cars are useless on the wet road. Most of the weight is in the front, so it fishtails on a slick road. I had a 69 Mustang and almost wrecked it twice. Once the radiator boiled over (bad thermostat) and it spun 180 degrees around in a tunnel. Somehow it just got one scratch on the front bumper. But I never figured out how that happened.

May be it is not the car Charles, may be it is the driver. Nearly all front-engine/rear traction cars were nose-heavy (understeer), I still have my first car, a 1970 Stang 428 SCJ - I never wrecked it - and I hate cars that drive by themselves (for young and old "little ladys", no insult to those drivers). There was a time, in America, when driving was an art and a science that you had to master if you wanted to push your steed to the limit - but that is all gone now. And yes, I live in the Northeast and saw plenty of water and snow with my car - I still drive it. Ciao, L

@goldysgarage189 of course, you are right about what was built. I am talking about what has survived and is now being built/restored. It is rare to see someone show off a coupe nowadays as almost everyone makes them a fastback or wants a fastback .
