How involved was George Lucas in the Tales of the Jedi Comics?

The fact that George cared so much about what happened in these stories says a lot. Actions speak louder than words. So it doesn't matter what he says in the Starlog quote.

The man basically laid the groundwork for the most interesting concepts in the EU. We got Sith alchemy and magic, we got the Old Republic era, we got a bunch of legendary figures in Star Wars history. It all started with his work on Dark Empire.

Awesome video. I love Tales of the Jedi. The best and most respectful to the OT material ever, since the original Marvel comics. The "conflicting information" you mention exists because Lucas IS a very inconsistent man in regards to SW and his ideas for it. In my eyes he lost all credibility for that, as that inconsistency is the root of the divisions he himself created, starting with his SE and later with his Prequels. I respect the man as a creative, but it would be disrespectful not to admit that the state SW is right now is all because of that. That "conflicting information", by him, is what's responsible for SW current status, making Lucas himself responsible for SW eventual downfall by choosing to ignore his own rules regarding SW.

Thanks for the epic comment and for watching my video! I totally agree on TotJ. It's my favorite part of EU media. And, no doubt, Lucas is very inconsistent when it comes to this stuff. I am always kind of hesitant to criticize the man who created the OT, but I see where you're coming from and I think it's a fair criticism. I don't particularly care for the direction SW has taken or its current ownership.

Most of the stuff in the prequels is based on his notes for the original draft. The problem is the entire saga is a remix of those ideas. The prequels are genuinely better than people give them credit.

@@gabethebabe3337 The prequels are not better than the OT, by a long shot. The only credit i give them is that they are original. As them being based on original drafts, that is one of their main problems. Lucas either forgot or chose to ignore that many of those ideas were evolved when the OT was created. By going back to those ideas, and worst yet, ignoring the OT and the EU's lore development, Lucas guaranteed they would be as weak, at best, as they are. Most people don't give them the credit, as you say, because they ARE weak films, at best. I personally don't accept them, as they are, as canon. I don't even own them in my film collection.
