Anyone following the news in recent weeks has seen the extraordinary evolution of protests in Iran: What began as anger over heavy-handed morality-policing has turned into criticism of an entire system.
State institutions, including the Revolutionary Guards, run oil and gas companies, banks, transportation and telecommunication companies. There are no reliable figures, but experts estimate that the elite paramilitary forces alone control one-third of the economy.

As an insider to the Iranian affair, DW made full of itself by inviting such people. Comparing the revolutionary guard with Alkadeh and calling Iran a regime that runs based on a constitution that was approved by the people is absolutely ridiculous. Involving REV. in the economy is out of absolute necessity and is of great value for the country while the county is under the heaviest sanction. For example, Iran had a shortage of gas for cars and at the same time did not have money to buy it from outside so they successfully built a refinery. The reason they are against the revolutionary guard has to do with their effectiveness.

Quite something for a guy from the Tony Blair Institute to wave his finger at Iran and call it a "corrupt authoritarian dictatorship" which is also "misogynistic" (it most certainly is) but his organisation receives millions in funding from Saudi Arabia.
@TheLocalLt
@TheLocalLt Жыл бұрын
Saudi Arabia is an absolute monarchy, but regardless of what you think of its policies it is not a revisionist, expansionist, totalitarian power like Iran. There’s a good chance a new regime in Iran would also be a top-heavy monarchy, as it was for over 2000 years prior to 1979; that doesn’t mean it will be as absolute as Saudi Arabia, or as the pre-1979 monarchy, but it still may take a while for a robust democracy to take root. That’s perfectly fine as long as the anti-Western clerico-fascist regime is gone.
