It's important to note that even though removing armor from and enemy doesn't scale well and is limited to 2X damage, stacking armor on yourself is extremely effective and scales much better even into the thousands. Every 100 armor will add your base hp pool to your overall "tankiness". 0 armor + 100hp = 100 effective hp. 100 armor + 100hp = 200 effective hp. 200 armor + 100hp = 300 effective hp. 900 armor + 100hp = 1000 effective hp. Its much more if you have some bonus hp from things like infusion or character lvl. 0 armor + 200hp = 200 effective hp. 100 armor + 200hp = 400 effective hp. 200 armor + 200hp = 600 effective hp. So even though armor scaling is hyperbolic. In practice every point of armor adds to your hp the same way infusions do. By 1 hp bar every 100 armor, no matter how much armor you have. A good example is if you are a lvl 20 commando you have 737 hp. So every 100 armor you will add another 737 hp. This is why I think that rose buckler is much stronger than infusion. Because 3 rose bucklers at lvl 20 is = 663 additional effective hp. That's over 6 infusions. And also its much easier to heal your hp back when your max hp is a lower number. Just keep sprinting for that value!
@feinne76522 жыл бұрын
That's why I always sigh and shake my head when Woolie scraps his Rose Bucklers while playing Huntress, or anyone really since you're mostly always sprinting, then being surprised when he randomly dies by a hit the armor would have saved him from.
@zeppie_2 жыл бұрын
@@feinne7652 I don’t blame him honestly. The feedback the game gives from receiving armor is nonexistent, and a player can’t know if it’s having any effect if the game doesn’t show it in some way. For example something like a dull metallic sound on hits reduced by armor would communicate to the player that they’re being guarded, but the game doesn’t have anything like that.

An easy way to do armor calculations in your head is just think of every 100 points of armor as the next fraction for the damage multiplier. What I mean by this is 100 armor = 1/2 damage, 200 armor = 1/3 damage, 300 armor = 1/4 damage, etc. For negative armor, double damage is the max, and the damage multiplier goes like -100 armor = 2 - 1/2 = 1.5x damage, -200 armor = 2 - 1/3 = 1.66x damage, -300 armor = 2 - 1/4 = 1.75x damage. You can see why the initial negative armor is way stronger than later stacks.
@roshanpaul85482 жыл бұрын
Another easy way to think of it that makes more sense intuitively is to consider each point of armor as an additional percentage of health against damage. So 100 armor would be 100% additional health translating to 200% total health. With 200% your total health, each hit taken would do half of its damage on your health bar. 200 armor is 200% additional health, meaning 300% total, so each hit does 1/3 its normal damage. 300 armor would be 400% total health so each hit does 1/4 the damage. This is exactly how league of legends calculates its armor and magic resist values.

A good way to think about it is each point of armor grants 1% effective hp so when you get 100 armor is 100% more hp meaning attacks do half damage
@Cepaceous2 жыл бұрын
one thing to mention is that because of the way the armor formula works, every 100 armor increases the player's effective health by 100% of the base value. Since damage can't be reduced to zero, damage reduction can be thought of as a modifier to an effective HP stat (regular health * (1 - damage reduction value)). 400 HP and 100 armor is 800 EHP because 50% of the damage is negated. Increasing the armor value to 200 makes 67% reduction, meaning that the base health value is 3x to 1200 EHP

damage multiplier=1-armor/(100+|armor|) is the whole equation for calculating armor's damage multiplier. void fiend gets 100 armor in his corrupted form, so 1-100/(100+|100|)=1-100/200=1-1/2=0.5, meaning any damage he takes is cut in half. shattering justice reduces armor by 60, so 1-(-60)/(100+|-60|)=1-(-60)/160=1-(-0.375)=1.375. because of how armor is calculated, the damage multiplier will always be less than 2, but more than 0.

Ok, Armour does NOT falloff or is strong early or whatever. 20 armour at 300000 is the same 20%eHP increase. What does matter is in context, since HP and damage is not a float, damage gets rounded. If it decreases damage taken by a point, then it matters. So 300000 to 300001 could be a 50% damage resistance increase. But those breakpoints and their effectiveness are linear, because the amount reduced the breakpoint density only moves left and right depending on how much armour you have, and the enemy damage.

the formula is wrong it's 100/(100+armor) also, a quick shorthand of understanding armor is like this positive armor is equivalent to +x% of your max health. 100 armor is +100% max health, meaning each hit point is worth 2 hit points (the reason why 100 armor is 50% damage reduction). 500 armor is +500% max health, meaning each hit point is worth 6 (the reason why 500 armor is 83% damage reduction). negative armor is equivalent to taking +1% extra damage. Justice lets you deal 60% extra damage, and scorpion lets you deal 2% extra damage per hit. Negative armor caps at 2x damage, so you'll never get too much use out of it, but I think it's still quite good either way.

One myth I’ve been seeing a lot is that the Artifact of Swarms makes Sacrifice drop more items, has this already been covered? (Edit: it has not, plz do this, I’m 99.9% sure Swarms does not affect Sacrifice drop rate)
@wolfdemonkid2 жыл бұрын
I believe Woolie did a video on that. The wiki says that the absolute minimum chance of dropping an item is 5%. The drop rate is halved when you're using swarms but it will not drop below 5%. So for lemurians and other starting enemies who start at around 5% there is no change but there are more of them. So you wouldn't be increasing the chance to drop from an enemy but you would have more enemies to kill.
@EspyMelly2 жыл бұрын
If you experiment there is a consistent increase in the amount of items you get in your first stage when using swarms over not. This doesn't mean the chance to drop is higher, this is because there are more enemies to drop items from, and like Jiggy said there is a cap at how little chance an item has to drop from any individual enemy. The number of items evens out as your run goes on I believe but the initial stages are much easier with swarm.
