How is Cold War Holding Up in 2022? (First Game on WMD)

Cold War just added the remastered map WMD and I wanted to check it out while simultaneously checking in on the current state of the game since the launch of Vanguard. What are your thoughts on Cold War in 2022 and which older CoD would you like to see me play next?

After seeing how bad spec ops was in MW for essentially the whole year, I was pretty satisfied with Cold War's zombies experience. Even if there was less maps than the other games, there was still a mellow grind to it that previous games lacked.

And although not the most efficient way to level up guns, it could be done without too much of a grind and was good for mostly stress less CoD experience which I think has been missing from vanguard etc

Yeah when they said MW 2019 was coming out I was so excited to spec ops but was severely disappointed. Spec ops missions were okay but there weren't enough, took half a year to only add a quarter of the maps to survival. I didn't have MW2 but it was no way near as good as MW3's was for me. (Especially with no riot shield squad :,,(((( )

It felt like you got to a certain point and the game just changed. Every lobby became a high ping slog against full squads of PC quickscopers or CDL wannabe’s abusing the broken Tec-9 and Marshals. Just not fun at all

Yup. Precision and Focusing need to go. As someone who played competitive matches occasionally, I saw people changing their aim assist mode every time they changed a class. How sad is that.

I left Vanguard to go back to CW and I'm enjoying it. I can't believe the state of COD and tbh I'm not really looking forward to MW2. At this point just give us a remaster of one of the classics like BO1 or BO2. I just want to have fun every match for once.

I don’t even trust these people remastering. They turned cod4 remastered to a supply box/ microtransaction pay to win shit fest. It was great but activision wanted to push the envelope and put their greedy grubby little hands and squeeze out more juice. It was great in the beginning but more of the community should have saw it coming from the start. They added it solely to sell more infinite warfare copies.

Strafing has always been kind of non existent on ARs without a stock in Black Ops Cold War but it's relatively fast with SMGS for the ttk

@@incompetencelogistics8924 It's a shooting game. You're supposed to be good at aiming and shooting. This is why the CDL does not primarily play Hardcore. Because a faster ttk is terrible. it removes gun skill and the point of using different weapons.

I still don't get people thinking a higher time to kill is the way to go. I like Vanguard's. It's not too fast like MW , but not super slow like CW and BO4. It's perfect to me. Hope they keep it , but enough people have whined about it , so they won't. We'll go right back to people spunging bullets next COD. SMH ...

@@kedricsample Not at all accurate my dude. lol. Go watch Aces video on the ttk data he did. With optimal attachments the ttk in vanguard is SUPER FAST. Take a look at his data. Statistically, the longer ttk code have been the most successful OVERALL in the franchise. Faster ttk is for bad players that have no gun skill. Longer ttk promotes more movement, map knowledge, and situational awareness. Shorter trek promotes slower paced gameplay. Why do you think people have been BEGGING Raven Software to increase the ttk in Warzone? Because I'm pretty sure the PRO PLAYERS want a longer ttk. Are they bad now too? Do your research dude. Clearly, you haven't.

Let me give you a scenario that I see ALOT when I play Black Ops 4 and Cold War , the two highest time to kill having COD's there is. I run up on a guy , get my gun up first , blast him first to the point where I put about 10 to 15 bullets in him before he can even react. Dude eats those first 10 to 15 and ends up killing me shooting a little less , while using the same gun i'm using. That sound like the better player won that gunfight ? Get the fuck outta here. That is the dumbest take that I hear floating around on social media when it comes to COD , and boy i've heard some doozies.

first impressions of the new WMD, they nailed the color pallete. it does have a weird blue tint kinda like BF3 did. But for some reason the visibility on this map feels noticeably better on this map compared to most of the modern COD maps. player models dont blur into the background and it seems like theres enough contrast to distinguish characters. im kinda impressed they (maybe indirectly) addressed the poor visibility somewhat. good shit treyarch.

Did they change everything up? I stopped playing it a couple months after release and the TTK was pretty much instant. Everyone was using the AUG/m16 or the shotguns

Ace remember that any good AR barrels sacrifice a lot of Strafe speed. The barrel attachments in cw do make big impacts to mobility for ARs.

Love the throwback series! My vote goes to BO4 because I still feel it’s one of the most unique cods to date. That or MW19 because I enjoy the commentary on the trash gameplay lol. Please don’t write off PS3 cods for this series just yet! Match making times are rough but I can still find WaW lobbies on Xbox. Would love to see you play some of these older games eventually.

I'd like to see a throwback to bo4, I love how unique it is despite all the issues. I'd really enjoy a separate not cod IP for that sort of FPS. Also the old gen cods are mostly playable on Xbox One/series because backwards compatible! I wouldn't write them off completely

I love Cold War, it has a nice clean, solid feeling. Whereas vanguard has a light hollow and messy. Cold War retains a lot of call of duty’s snappy gameplay, and the longer ttk is great. WMD however sucks in Cold War. For some reason it just doesn’t work at all.

The streaks carrying through death would have been fine if the air patrol was properly balanced. Just make it an automatic defender if you have it while controlling an airborne streak for users, and make it so it takes 2-3 air patrols to take out a chopper gunner , VTOL, or gunship for defenders. Boom balanced

I like the fact that streaks carried through death, and it seems like I'm the only one that does. I do agree that the way it was implemented didn't encourage objective play, but is there really a good reason why streaks can't carry over?

It was a huge rush just obtaining those high streaks and they felt earned, rather than given Mw3 however had a system where you could choose between streaks that are reset upon death, or streaks that persist but were more support based and imo that was a great system for everyone

Honestly, I've been always praising MW 2019, and hating BOCW, but I ended up buying it 50% off because there was nothing more to do on MW :( I never enjoyed its MP while it was a main COD, but now that the new gun released, I've had a pretty good time on it. It's definitely in a much better state now. Snipers are as annoying as ever, though...

Yeah same here although one thing I didn’t miss was running into snipers on this game. It is insanely frustrating to die instantly over and over again, especially when you shoot first and they still kill you.

I feel like you called out all of the major problems with cold war. Increase the strafe and ads speeds, nerf or remove snipers, and fix the kill streak system and it would be one of the best cods of all time. Still a huge fan of faceoff 6v6. Blitz mode before vanguard.

I think no cod game beats bo1 when it comes to maps: Nuketown, Firing Range, Jungle, Summit, WMD, Havana, Grid... I dont know whats going on with cod map designers nowadays but clearly theyre not as good as they used to be.
