Short answer: they mix sodium chloride with potassium chloride, which tastes similar

I have bought Pickles with only Calcium Chloride used as a salt and it tastes like salt. Many manufactures of pickles use sodium chloride as salt and calcium chloride to keep them crisp.

Potassium Chloride has been used as a salt substitute for decades. This is nothing new. Also, it doesn't taste the same at all. It has an odd off taste.

To me it’s salty but with a definite bitter note. Bearable but not really pleasant.

Sea salt/Himalayan salt has a little less sodium chloride than table salt but lack the iodine (unless added). They taste better to most people as well. Real Salt (brand name) is probably the tastiest salt and has trace minerals. Potassium chloride does have an initial "salty" taste but has a bitter aftertaste, but it isn't as noticable if combined with regular salt and maybe a pinch of sugar. MSG also is reduced salt and enhances flavor, you make it in your body and many foods naturally contain it like tomatoes/ketchup, mushrooms, soy sauce, fish sauce, etc.

There's also ammonium chloride used to flavour salmiak or 'salty' liquorice.

How does potassium chloride lower blood pressure? You're increasing the amount of solute in your body, and you're still going to retain water to compensate... Additionally, large amounts of potassium will damage your heart.

Your body has an easier time ridding itself of potassium. It would, however, be a problem for someone with reduced kidney function though.

It's all down to how the body handles sodium. Sodium is by far the most populous positive ion. On account of that ,water goes wherever Sodium goes. If you eat a lot of Sodium, your body holds on to that, that increases your water as well, increases blood volume and therefore blood pressure. Potassium is handled in the opposite way in that when presented with high Potassium, the body loses Sodium to hold on to Potassium. That's how Potassium lowers bp

i have high blood pressure and when i found out ,i put myself on a low sodium diet. its really hard finding things that have low sodium but it can be done. you need to find a no "sodium baking powder "-to help you bake and the no sodium salt -i use Nu salt . i cant taste the bitterness at all.

Potassium is in the same group as Sodium on the periodic table. Both are metals in 'natural' form. The amount of BS spewed on this channel as well as in the comments is quite spectacular. I hope people don't start ingesting salts because they think all salts are edible.
