Last nights Penguins vs Sabres game got off to a slow start, with us not seeing the first goal until late into the 2nd. The highlight of the night for me though, was an incredible keep in of the puck by Sidney Crosby as the Sabres tried to clear it out of their zone. Surprise surprise, you make this kind of effort and it leads to goals. I cover this, Jeff Skinners nasty cross check to Jake Guentzel's face and everything in between in today NHL hockey video!

As a 35 year old lifelong Pens fan, we’ve been spoiled with these subtle little plays Sid’ll make (That the vast majority of the league wouldn’t even dream of trying) seemingly 3-5 times a year. Took a second to process this one last night…going from “Damn, he stacked his pads like a goalie to keep that puck in” to “D”He didn’t just stack his pads like a goalie, but then had the wherewithal to make a backhand (damn near no look) pass the width of the ice. Far beyond grateful to the hockey Gods for blessing us with 66, 68, 71, and 87.

Not as great a skater as Coffee, Perrault or Macdavid, but his edge work is phenomenal. Not as good a stickhandler as Jagr, Bure, or Ovi, but his hip and lower leg strength and puck possession are incredible. And Crosby's will to win is second to nobody except maybe Rocket Richard's, which is why he has won everything that can be won.

he will never score 50 goals a season for nine straight seasons nor will he amass 4 Cups in a row like MIKE BOSSY, the only player who matters. Oh, and a cross check to the face could have been dealt with a lot more sensibly by getting rid of the instigator rule and letting him do to the Pittsburgh player what Clark Gillies did to Ed Hospodar. Look it up. That reminds me, 90% of the players in today's league wouldn't be in the league if the likes of Gillies, O Reilly, Probert, Chase, Semenko, et al were around to take out the garbage.

It's so interesting watching hockey fans appreciate Crosby nearly 20 years into his career. Definitely a far cry from the general opinion of him when he came into the league. I think some of the general perspective shifting is warranted; Crosby did have his moments as a spoiled young star coming into the league. But I think looking back on how some players - and most fans - treated him says far more about the NHL's fanbase than it ever did about Crosby.

Well said. The hate for Crosby is all ignorance, arrogantly foolish pride, and jealousy all rolled into one. He's everything a Hockey player and a Man should be. Highly Skilled, smart, dedicated, determined, tough, poised, defensively responsible, disciplined, unselfish, humble, an incredible leader, and just a downright gracious winner. Dude has faced unwarranted hate and jealousy his entire life since he was probably 6 years old and he's handled it all tremendously well with maturity and grace as well as anyone has. Absolutely Love Sid. We're fortunate to have him in Pittsburgh and we know it.

I think we can all agree that the Sabres Goathead retro uniform looks like hell with white pants. Put on the blue pants and maybe it doesn't look horrible, but to me this uniform looks like adult-sized white pj's with racing stripes, or like a white version of a men's bathing suits from the 1920's (the ones they called union suits).

If Sid does not get serious consideration for the Hart this season then the NHL is fixed.

No one talks about it because haters hate. They just say "oh crosby is a whiner", "refs just give crosby games". Its the same reason people try to tear down Jordan or Brady. Some people just find the best player they can and just hate them because they arent on their favorite team.

To be fair I can see why Sid's whininess and immaturity was off-putting for many. He's matured a lot but still has his moments today... But you just can't deny not only his talent, but his IQ on the ice and game awareness is through the roof

@@SuperTugz people that think Sid is whiney probably only ever saw him play as an 18 year old. He was immature at times back then but what 18 year old wouldnt be? People dont realize that Gretzky was also thought to be a "whiner" early in his career. But who calls him that now? When I ask people to give me a specific example of Crosby whining in the last 15 years. No one can. Yet haters believe it. It just goes back to my original point. If youre great, haters will hate.

@@SuperTugz Sid's nowhere near as bad as Jordan Binnington is today. Back in the first couple years of his career, maybe so. But he's grown up and matured a lot since then. People forget that Gretzky had the same label and attitude back when he played. But, unlike Crosby, he had Marty McSorley to fight his battles for him. 87 will actually drop the gloves and stand up for himself.

Skinner was completely out of line for what should have been a non issue or at most maybe a little chirp from skinner. The penguins player didn't do anything to dramatic to cause that kind of response..... and no im not a penguins fan or a sabre hater.
