Greetings from Bangladesh Dr. Douglas Evan. My mother is 70 years old and she has been diagnosed with pancreatic tumour with cancer disease. As I understand from your lecture, surgery is not in the top priority. However in my mother’s case our Pancreatic biliary surgeon suggested that my mother is too old to try to do chemotherapy he would rather do surgery first. Actually an oncologist forwarded us to a surgeon. Anyway surgery was done and doctors couldn’t take out the whole tumour. Instead, he just bypassed some organs for future digestion comfort (this is what doctor told me just after surgery). Her pet ct scan and bone isotope scan suggest that it has reached to bone to some extent too as Doctors explained. Doctors say she is now in stage 4 and the only option remains is radiotherapy which she is receiving now. She was first diagnosed in September 2020 and now its November end. My understanding is that disease couldn’t be identified in earlier stage since she’d been suffering from all symptoms of the disease for at least two years. I am her 5th child, a son. I feel like I could have worked better. She raised me well educated and loved me most (I have a feeling) but I couldn’t do anything in time. Now we see her suffering that we can’t even bear how could she. I pray for all the patients of the world. Ameen.
