My mom worked at Sears back in 87. Those were the good days. It would be really busy on the weekend. They had a lavish family day in late January. Now I drive truck for Walmart.

Sears and Kmart parent company pulled the plug all remaining stores are closing on or about March 6 2022. As Sears Holdings just sold their home office building now.

Wow, the SSP Sears! This Sears involves 2 of my earliest childhood memories. This Sears replaced a smaller Sears store on Hancock Street in Quincy, MA (next to Braintree). Hancock Street was/is the main drag of the downtown area of Quincy known as Quincy Center. Anyway, when that store was still open, I was a toddler and thought it would be a fun idea to drop my pants and pee into the toilets on display in the store! I'm sure customers may have thought it was funny but my parents were likely not very amused. More directly related to the mall and this Sears itself was going to one of the "Breakfast with Santa Claus" things with my family at a restaurant in this mall, in this Sears around Christmas, 1980. I remember asking for Hungry Hungry Hippos which I did not get that year but did years later.

Interesting that of the few Sears stores still open, their flagship store (Woodfield Mall, Schaumburg IL) that is closest to their headquarters is no longer open.

For the size of this store there should be loads more merchandise. It looks to be at about a third of its capacity. This store has merchandise anemia. Chances are they are struggling with credit and vendor supply. Want to know a stores current state of health? Look at the electronics department. It's a dead giveaway into how close it is to its demise. They're barely covering their expenses here. At best they're hanging on, but if they plan on being a comeback kid it's not going to be with this store. At least at the state it's currently in. As you were walking around I could almost hear the death rattles. I honestly don't think Transformco has a plan in place to even save itself at this point. That sort of plan should have been in place going at full charge ten+ years and 1,600 stores ago.
