For those not aware (even though we probably all heard it in high school), time moves slower as you speed up. Normally, this is negligible, but Thawne has sped himself up so much, that he has (as he put it) stretched the last second of his life out into months’ worth of time, though obviously he’s (literally) running out.

Actually Thawn absorbing the speed force makes total sense. In the comics he uses the negative speed force. Every step he takes eats away at the normal speed force. The weaker the various Flashes are, the stronger he is. I assume that without Flash interference he was able to just eat away at the speed force as much as he wanted.

This is what i think and took from the clip. He absorbed some of the speed force to extend his life. The milliseconds before complete death. He’s technically dead but he hasn’t gone through the final stages of death so he’s in a static state of death. He’s literally slowing down his death continuously until he runs out of speed or accelerates his body so it can catch up to the events around him.

0:30 - 1:00 I think that Reverse Flash is able to siphon the speed force in that way because as it was explained in the comics, Barry was actually the very person who generated the speed force's power and that the speed force isn't infinite, but Barry generated more power for the speed force with basically every step he took. In the flashpoint timeline Barry hadn't become the Flash, so he wasn't the person who generated the speed force power, instead it was Eobard since he was the only other speedster in the new flashpoint timeline. We never really see Reverse Flash using his powers too much until he faced Barry and I think he did that deliberately in order to not generate enough speed force power for Barry to gain and travel through time. Even after Barry regained his powers in flashpoint, Eobard was still the generator of the speed force's power, it's just that Flash now had a connection to it. As it was said in the video, Eobard could only hold so much speed force energy, but it was enough to ensure that The Flash couldn't have enough to travel through time since he tried not to use his powers too much.

Yea, that's the massive gaping plothole. Physically if he did use the speedforce to extend the moment of his death into weeks or however long, it still doesn't get him somewhere else. He's just stuck at the end of the flashpoint universe, because nothing else exists until he dies and Flash changes time. This movie was trying way too hard to be clever.

this is what i think, he absorbed a lot of speedforce inside him, and use a part of what he absorved to go inside the speedforce and travel into the other timeline, which reduced the time he could be "still alive" to a few days or at least that is my theory

@@kylo-juju3796 Time flows the same way in both of these timelines. Remember, its the same Earth. Zoom can't just freeze time, or slow it down as ridiculously as they've shown it here. If he could slow it down so much and so hard... he could literally get out of the bullets way or use his fingers to stop it from getting deeper into his skull and brain tissue. He didn't do that. When Flash jumps into the speedforce he does so by running. Zoom never ran into it, he just disappeared for like half a second that Flash didn't even notice... strangely enough. The next two seconds were him dying and hitting the ground. After that Flash barely made it back to his original timeline before the bomb went off. So the entire movie of Hell to Pay happened in less than two seconds. Its funny. We never saw him disappearing in the Flashpoint Paradox. Like VGL Studios said above, this movie was trying way too hard to be clever. It didn't exactly work. No speedster can exist mentally and physically in multiple dimensions, Earths, realities and timelines. And throughout Hell to Pay there was always a hole shot through his head. By the looks of it he never slowed it down. It already destroyed his brain. His cognitive functions should be eradicated. After all, he's only human.

Alternative to an excellent explanation: What Barry did was actually set up by Thawne. He made so many time-trips, including (at least in other media) the death of Barry's mother. Thawne by way of all these journeys over-clocked time itself, causing a catastrophe when Barry tried to undo even one thing. This made Thawne the effective master of a lot of temporal energy, and had the added bonus of making it seem Barry was just an inept time traveler who butterflied the whole damned world. Now when he was shot, he used this temporal mass to power his way into the restored timeline. But when it finally ran out, since so much of that temporal energy was bound up in the Flashpoint universe, he was instantly returned there when it and he expired. Now if he would just stop returning every three issues. He's become like the imaginary stories in the Silver Age.

YES! This was my thought as well. Despite not having access to the comics, I do know that Thane is an inconsistent time-traveler, who learned of the Flash in history (as he is from a future time), and wanted Flash's power for himself, doing everything possible to increase his power (mainly killing other Flash's in other timelines, therefore disrupting the timelines as a result). As a narcissistic sociopath, he went into the Flash's own timeline, killing Barry's mother and not caring what it'll take. So, yeah, Karma's a Female Wolf and it was extremely satisfying to see him struggle with his own death, trying to delay it as much as possible before failing!

For the bit about siphoning off the speed force, some speedsters in comics and TV show can do this to the extent of draining other speedsters of their powers (hence why some speedsters fight through races alone) but it's not so much they're siphoning from the speedforce itself more so the level of speedforce in the opposing speedster. In essence what they tried to say and poorly did so in that scene was that Thawn was draining the speedforce energy out of the flash like rechargable battery draining the energy from a normal battery. Any time Thawn ran even in close proximity to Berry he drained the speedforce out of Berry, enough to where if Thawn ever wanted to, not only could he trap Berry in this alternate timeline, but he could also escape it and jump to a new one that doesn't have a Flash anymore, due to Berry being totally and completely erased.

With the whole siphoning from the speed force thing, i think it works like a radio signal. Like the ones firefighters use to communicate. When too many people tune into the same one it kinda just crashes the whole thing; which is why communications were down on 9/11/2001 and the FL parkland shooting. It's interesting how nowhere in this video does he tackle the question of how the hell Zoom is running around in a universe that didn't start to exist until after he was dead. How does Zoom extending out his moment of his death get him to a different timeline? It would make sense only if the moment of the bullet from Batman's gun piercing the skull approaching the surface of the brain was extended infinitesimally. Answer to question 1: Like all bad guys or anyone too arrogant and I'm quoting his words: "I never saw it coming." In his own arrogance, Zoom/Reverse Flash as fast as he is didn't pay attention to the noise or sound of the gun shot until the bullet went through his head. So, yes he really was not paying attention which is why Batman killed him in that time line. Answer to question 2: His last split second thoughts were first phase the bullet through his body but the bullet had already did the damage done to him. So, before the final curtain comes to him, he used the speed force to keep himself going and alive but it isn't enough. He has maybe days, weeks, or even seconds before he feels his "Out of body" experience. (If this helps )

It's entirely possible for the brain to still function, even when pieces are missing. This is because the brain will work to compensate for the damaged or missing tissue, which is why lobotomy patients are still capable of thought. The problem is that significant damage to the brain is usually fatal, and the brain is still running at a fraction of its previous capacity. Thawne description of the experience, that everything feels foggy and more difficult the closer he is to dying, would probably be accurate if one could stretch their moment if dying into a span of hours or days.

Okay, so he prolonged his deaht via speed force. Cool. But,, how did he get to the new 52 time line. Did he speed force his way there? If so, how much speed force did he use to do that? In fact, how much speed force did he take in initially. My hypothesis is that he did, after sucking up the force upon being shot, he raced to the new time line. But, since the end of the movie- SPOILER ALERT!!!! -shows Zoom getting shot by Deadshot and the scene changes to Thomas "Batman" Wayne shooting, I've concluded that Zoom was always destined to fail; He was always going to get shot, go to another time to save himself, and fail. This is true, b/c the Zoom still dies and stays dead at the end of Flashpoint Paradox. I don't now, Zoom being in Hell to Pay feels kind of tacked on and not well thought out. I mean, if Zoom sucked up the speed force, that meant that Flash still would be able to go back in time. The creaters of the movie probably thought it would just be a cool additon, which it was. actually, the reverse flash blocking the flashes speed makes sense when you remember that the negative speed force is powered by speed force energy so the reverse flash just has to tap into more of his power which will take power from the speed force there for keeping the flash from accessing enough energy to time travel edit: in case you don't know the reverse flash created his own version of the speed force called the negative speed force witch drains speed force energy to power itself and its users and sure barry generates speed force energy but he cant use it all at once so the negative speed force could stop barry from useing his fullk speed and if the reverse flash uses the regular speed force then him just use more to go faster then barry will also couse the speed force to have to use its energy on more then one person witch could also keep barry from time traveling cous he cant acses as mutch as he would other wise

Omg i just watched Suicide Squad HTP then watched Flashpoint Paradox with no knowledge of any timelines. Then i screamed when in flashpoint Zoom’d death was the moment in Suicide Squad. Like I applaud the continuity like that. It was so cool to have that connection.

SECOND he is not called "reverse flash" is is called Professor Zoom. and sure Zoom is a different character but he literally hasnt existed for a while now so shortening his name to just Zoom is fine.

My guess is flash transferred him back when he went back in time to stop himself and creating the flashpoint timeline, but by then eobard had already sucked up a fuckton of speedforce to keep himself alive. Since flash and zoom are the only ones not originally from the flashpoint timeline they were the only ones to be transported back to the current timeline in their most recent states once flash undid everything.
