One good thing to note about damage conversion is that damage and DoT types are linked (see your resistances), and if you have a skill that does, say, fire and burn damage, if you convert the damage to cold, a corresponding percentage of the burn will be converted to frostburn. This does not work with chaos and aether, as they don't have damage over time components. Bleeding does not convert and is separate. One other thing that my not be obvious is that "flat damage" ie, a weapon with "25 vitality damage" or a similar devotion, this is only added to your weapon damage and weapon damage skills. +% damage stats are global. Hope this helps!

I remember back then when I started GD (bout 8 years ago) I avoided all sort of conversion on the first like 10-20 build because I wasn't sure about how it even works. Wheter it converts the dot too, does it instantly converts and then apply the bonuses, or take the bonuses into consideration and then converts? I remeber that was like the only system confused me to the point that I was like "ok I guess Im gonna figure this out later". In the end I learned the whole game by myself I purposfully avoided all sort of guides and builds so I could keep the thrill of discovering stuff on my own which helped the longevity of it quite a lot. Made more than 200 build over the years and every single one of them was my own idea, based on stuff I found or I thought would be fun. Ofc there are some obvious ones that probably built by half of the community anyway, like a "very unique" primal strike and lightnings with a raka's jax, or summoner with a gul set, but I made some really contrived stuff too xD

Well that dashed my hopes for a dot character. Was trying to recreate my wow warlock.

In the example of Totally Normal Dawnshard, I notice there are several items that has Burn, Frostburn and Electrocute, but also Elemental damage. Does that mean that the elemental damage sums up to the pack of "damage over time"? Thanks for the content 👍🏼
@WinbackRpgRadАй бұрын
@ch1nux1430 so when you see elemental damage it's basically saying "X amount of fire/cold/lightning" there is no name for elemental DoT so they just list the three separately. They aren't added together though if that's what you mean?

@@WinbackRpgRad Yes, I stand corrected. I always thought that elemental damage "stack" the burn, frostburn and electrocute DoT, kinda. Thanks for answer it 👍🏼
