@sebwiers17 жыл бұрын
It is, but compared to the wight of the stock ZX-9r, that's a lot. I'm guessing OP doesn't ride sport bikes, because a normal motorcycle rider would not be going on like they were gonna die; they are used to the speed and exposure. The trike is probably a lot safer actually, at least in terms of single vehicle accidents; it can spin out without pitching you, for example. On the other hand, it probably corners & brakes better than the motorcycle, due to lower center of gravity. That's gotta be fun, and maybe a bit scary.

Reminds me of the trihawk motorcycle conversions you could buy in the late 1970s. Always wanted one. Looked for years but never found one. One day while filling up my car at the gas station near the interstate I'll be Damned if one didn't pull in the get gas! Guy was real cool, let me look it over after I told HIM what it was which he was impressed by. He said everyone else asks what it is, where can I get one? After a long look I said " I already know the answer, but you know I have to ask." He smiled alittle and nodded. "Do you want to sell it?" The smile grew bigger, then "no" I've never seen another one. I did build a dune buggy using a volkswagen pan, a roll cage and powered by a 750 Yamaha three cylinder shaft drive engine. Mated the Yamaha output shaft to a VW clutch plate then slid it on the verge trans input. Engine sat "backwards" ( for a motorcycle) only issue was the output shaft turned backwards. I never got around to flipping the ring gear and carrier So we had 5 gears forward (reverse on the vw and five on the Yamaha) and 15 in reverse. (Three ranges on vw and five on the Yamaha)

From something out of your head transformed into metal, it's brilliant. I'm building something similar in Oz, doubt it will be as good as yours though, definitely not as light. We need a reverse here dammit, and we have the dreaded Australian Design Rules which now include the requirement to have the frame Xrayed and stress-crack tested. It looks as though your frame is mig welded, though I'm using tig, trying for neatness of welds to give the signatory engineer, who has to pass the thing, a warm fuzzy feeling, before it gets officially examined and approved for registration. I've a long and difficult road ahead, but as you alluded to in the commentary, persistence pays dividends. It'll be on youtube sometime next year so look out for it. Great job, thoroughly impressed. Don't concern yourself with the negative comments; most are jealous and many don't know their arses from their elbows and couldn't screw a nut on a bolt, let alone build something marvellous...
@CitizenSmith506 жыл бұрын
Apart from the dreaded ADR's, Laws vary from state to state, so even if you have something that is legal in NSW for example, you could get busted if you ride/drive it into SA (the Nanny State). The laws in South Australia are ludicrous. But our bees are lethal, so the comments about riding in shorts are valid!
@davespencer1951 Жыл бұрын
How did you go bro? Did you get it past the rego nazis?
@logotrikes Жыл бұрын
@@davespencer1951 I built it to the point of looking for a suitable motorcycle rear end. Built the main framework, front suspension and steering, pedals mounted, seating sorted etc. Quite a lot of work went into it, but we went to the UK for a holiday and we bought a little open car to drive around in. I suggested to my wife that I would like one back in Oz. She said sure but I couldn't have both. So we bought a little 2 seater Tigra and I scrapped the trike idea before I'd put too much money into it. The time gone into it was irrelevant. Being retired I've got plenty of time for hammering and butchering... That was 5 years ago and we still have our little roller skate... Appreciate the enquiry dude....

You can drift it if you want, just put a hard compound tire on the rear.

Why not the ZX-14R? Much more awesome and power!!!!

Akmal Hakim Yes I have to agree

Yeah the ZX-14R has more power, but the Vmax is essentially two V-twins side by side. A Vtwin makes it's power down low in a way that most i-4's don't. The T-Rex manufactured out of Canada uses the 1352cc ZX-14 engine, if my memory serves me correct.

Amazing machine! That was a motorcycling wave. You just hold your arm/hand down at about a 45%. On a motorcycle you don't want to throw your weight off by waving your hand up and it could be confused with arm turn signaling. Motorcycle wave image --- i.ytimg.com/vi/8rl8SGgP1Qg/hqdefault.jpg

Way better than Spider or Slingshot. The sound alone does it for me, shifting sounds cool.

This is way better than the sling shot. It’s be something I’d add to the website for custom builds.

no quick shifter?
@lucasd16466 жыл бұрын
The guy who built it at some point said you use the clutch for going from stop and downshifting, so I guess there is a quickshifter installed.
@snowcatxx876 жыл бұрын
Lucas D wrong, clutchless upshifting does not mean quickshifter.
@TSOL_in_LOS6 жыл бұрын
Maybe a slipper clutch.

Really? It's not exactly a new concept is it! People have been building these for Decades, and there are many, many out there with much more powerful Engines fitted. It's nice, but it's nothing special. Maybe do a little research first?

I do not think you know what a concept is buddy. There can be a new car concept but it is still just a car and they have been made before. Thing is that this trike is not like any other trikes. Maybe do a little research first?

That one has a frame a windsheild some models have doors it has arch covers a small storage area on the wheel. It is nothing like this.

@Ritalie2 жыл бұрын
The reason this Trike is so much better than anything else, is becaue it uses the greatest sportbike engine ever made, aside from the 1340cc 2nd Gen Hayabusa engine. The 1999 era ZX-9R was a long stroke (tons of torque), 150 horsepower engine that ran in the 9 second bracket on a stock motorcycle, on a stock motorcycle with no wheelie bar. The inline 4 cylinder is what makes this thing into a genuine work of art. The V-Twin engine on the factory Bombardier trikes pales in comparison to the inline 4.

I built a "go kart" about the size of this unit when I was single and had lots of time. It started with a Yamaha 570 2 stroke in pieces. Got it running and built a frame and double A arm front suspension with Katana 450 rear shocks. It ran a 11.7 second quarter mile at 120 mph, but with no diff it was a nightmare in the corners. I should have gone three wheeler like this guy and it would have been much easier to drive.

@kamikazeyamamoto45456 жыл бұрын
Awesome build, but you should craft a Formula 1 style body for it. 3 reasons: 1. It would look better. 2. It would provide some level of protection from birds and bugs. 3. Nut sack protection (most important).
