You're the first sub 10 hr. IM finisher who I have seen intentionally endure a 17 hr. IM. You now have a complete understanding the difficulty of an IM from a position most do not have. And, that is an experience you can carry over if you ever coach beginner triathletes... or, if you already coach, you now have a deeper understanding of IM as a metamorphous and not just an event. Congrats. 👍👍

I hope you know you're a huge inspiration to a ton a triathletes. I got into tri because of your videos and am currently prepping for Oceanside 70.3. This video came at the perfect time since I did an at-home 70.3 in just over 6 hours moving time today and now I can watch this while my legs feel like jello.

This is actually a quite interesting format - everyone does the same amount of time and the one making it the furthest wins. I'd actually rate this sort of competition higher than a fixed distance time trial. Cool idea and well done!

I've seen a weekend warrior option for an event I'm doing this summer. Not quite the same but an interesting concept as well. You do a sprint or supersprint and when you finish you can start another one up until a certain time of the day. And that for 2 days in a row. Winner is the one who completes most.

I remember when I finished my first IM in Austria - 14:27 and on the way back from the finish I saw people still going with head torches on and I honestly thought the same that they are the real IM finishers. There was almost no aid stations, dark, no supporters. Well done for taking on such an endeavour on your own 🙌

Very few have the sack to think to put themselves in the hurt locker like this, and even fewer follow through. Elite effort mate, irrespective of any paces or distances just to sit in that pain with that head noise and keep going is huge. Massive respect. Big inspiration.

So spectacular! What a great, original idea. And while the physical challenge is great, the mental toughness to do this with no real reward at the end, other than a video, I suppose, is what really amazes me.

I’m a back of the tail finisher in the Ironman NZ events I have completed. I take my hat off and am in awe of you elite athletes in the time you can cover the Ironman Distance. One day I hope to complete the Ironman Distance before it gets dark but the finish line experience we experience is awesome. Great video

love your seeking for endurance and it reminds me of a very famous endurance event here in Belgium where i'm from called 'de dodentocht' (deathmarch). It's a 100km walk that should be completed in 24h. If you're ever looking for a cool challenge, maybe to bring some friends along (cause from what I've heard it is best to do in company), it's a really cool way to challenge yourself and seeing you can easily do an iron man, this shouldn't be the worst haha In Belgium this march is also to bring in money for charity, so a very cool challenge all around! Just some inspo, keep doing what you're doing, we love seeing it!

What an arbitrary number 17 hours for a cut off? or is it significant for something else? Maybe Ironman pays for 17 hours of road closures and after that it gets more pricey?
@Seamalicous2 күн бұрын
They close the roads for 24 hours generally and the difference is the setup/pack down time

@@peterboldt1398 I just dont like the "17 hour people are working harder than the 8 hour people". Thats false. If tomorrow you had to do an ironman in either 9 hours or 17. If you fail, you die. Which time you choosing? Why? Because its way easier. Way way way easier,. 6 hour marathon vs 2:40. You choose.
