Join me as I recount the experience of staying in hospital to get gender confirmation surgery (GCS)!
On 12th October, I had a vaginoplasty performed by Ms Tina Rashid at Parkside Hospital in London. This was an extremely challenging experience but also the best moment of my life. In this video, I'll be talking about what I went through while in hospital, as well as my thoughts and feelings around it. It's a long video, sorry!! I'm still getting the hang of this.

now, you might be wondering why i haven’t made a follow up video to this. i did record one around december, but kinda never got around to editing and publishing it. i’m just kinda lazy! i’ll work on a proper follow up video (with q&a) eventually. turns out video is a lot of work, haha. feel free to ask any questions below.

I had my surgery last August and had a brief moment of panic as I was being wheeled back to the operating room. There was a second of "am I making the right decision?" I think that's normal. More than anything I was more afraid of something going wrong with anesthesia and not waking up. My doctors have said my recovery has been much more difficult than their other patients. I had A LOT of hyper granuloma tissue in the months following and super intense nerve pain. I absolutely couldn't handle doing it on my own in the beginning--I could hardly walk and I'd get SO tired. I'm so thankful that I was able to have my mom with me. Even with all the difficulties and how annoying it can be to dilate so often for a while, I have no regrets.

I love these videos especially taking a vlog of the experience and talking about to those who want grs or who are thinking about it as part of their transition and really hard to find information of vlogs/people documenting their experiences in the Uk especially the NHS! This really does give an insight to me of what I'll experience one day and give reassurance and know what to expect to make the recovery and surgery experience easier when I have my GRS. I'm currently waiting on the Nottingham Gender Clinic List and soon to start my medical transition with my first appointment in Q4 of 2024 it's exciting to get the treatment I need to feel connected and happier in my own skin and feel relieved at one with myself for the first time. The classic line was "YOU DON'T KNOW ME!" A woman wants to be saved by a man. Why are you being a man, fighting another man? Can you understand the incommensurability? I don`t see what makes Maisie genuinely `transgender`...wouldn`t that be `transexual` since Maisie`s had vaginoplasty? I don`t see a video about hrt? Whatever shaky claim to a `sex-change` happening usually hinges on years of hrt . So, no Maisie hasn`t had a sex-change. And even hormones just work on transforming a male body to look more female, while still being male.

@@Bevity Regret does happen. GRS is major surgery with risks. However, studies have shown that the regret rate is actually quite low (less than or around 1%). Even patients that have cancer-removing surgeries can have significantly higher regret rates than that. Managing expectations and outcome-neutral counseling might help, not to mention acceptance in societies of gender non-conforming individuals. Denying access to surgery for others merely because of a risk that has been studied seems extreme. The wait times for surgeries are already very long in many jurisdictions. This is a complex issue.

The reason that you have see all those Doctors and be subject to all those deeply personal and probing questions is because the surgery that you are about to have is 1. Non reversible 2. A sterilisation effectively. These choices/decisions you are making are NON REVERSABLE. The Doctors/Hospital have be 1000% certain that you understand what you are doing to your body, before they can proceed ,it's life altering dude, thow genetically and biologically you are still male the gender reassignment surgery is only to align your visual self with your mental self to stop the GENDER DISFORIA associated with trans people. Your welcome! My lesso s are free, so re think how you choose to word your story not everything is trans phobic or an attack on you as a person.

I am truly amazed that someone would go to the extent to change there gender by surgery, this is not natural, may God have mercy on you, and you wake up to the truth of the fact that you cannot change who God made you to be.

Please make sure you are willing to live with the consequences if this surgery has complications. Right now your urinary tract is intact and your sexual parts work. This could change and you could lose the ability to enjoy sex. Don’t trade your health for something your not sure about. Try to love yourself the way you were born. These doctors are making money off your surgery. Think about that! Do they have your best interest or theirs in mind.

She likely wasn't enjoying sex with a penis. Its not always about sex. Its about reduction of dysphoria. It just not resembling a penis is enough for some trans people to consider going through all the bullshit. You think you're being pragmatic but you can't always treat dysphoria with pragmatism. You're also just entirely missing the point.

I wish this person the best and hope it works out but I would highly recommend anyone thinking about doing this, to watch the countless detransition stories. They are horrifying and incredibly sad. You're making a life long decision that's going to have many complications and medical interventions. These surgeries are far from perfected.

Most detransitioners are female to male to female. i don't understand your investment in deterring people frok something that will likely never affect you in any way.

@Lia.s Peeing out of a catheter, no more conventional orgasm, no ability to reproduce if they decided they wanted to down the road, and having to dilate multiple times a day for years if not forever to keep things open down there where as most of them lack depth and can also sometimes grow hair inside themselves depending on how well the laser surgery went. The list goes on and on and I think the echo chambers transitioners find themselves in minimizes these real life consequences. So yeah as a fellow human being I would like these people to be highly aware of these things for their own sake.

@@Neighbor618 Its dumb to think she wasn't aware of the risks and uncertainties. She's not a child. She made a decision to get affirming genitals and deal with any issues that might come with it. All you want to do is scare people out of being happy because you don't understand how destructive dysphoria is. Stop pretending you actually care about people. You really don't. You're just here to waggle your finger and tell people some shit you read about stuff you don't understand.

And I just want to add - he can never be a real woman. This is so so sad as this person is so young. It's almost like he's talking about a night out with chums. But the consequences are that he has allowed himself to become a surgical experiment because he believes in a mad ideology.

@@brandyhaywood6256I think the OP is not so politely trying to say that ultimately, even with all the surgeries and efforts this person will always be a biological male 🤷‍♀️ There’s a lot of “sales talk” among SRS surgeons and doctors that make people feel like once they fully transition that they will be cis women. This obviously can’t happen as every trans person will always have to take replacement hormones, their anatomy isn’t the same as a biological female etc. But most healthy trans people already realize this. I’m guessing that’s what the OP is trying to say.
