This reasoning works well with small arms fire. Something that's easy to get ahold of, especially illegally. Which is the scope of Batman's armor. He is not expecting a 50cal on Gotham streets. However, amor that is rated for heavy arms fire is incredibly bulky, to say the least. That would countermand Batman's fighting style. But the bats isn't usually facing snipers or even shotgun slugs. If that were a notable everyday threat? You know that high vis bat logo is going on a wrist.

One of the big things that makes aim in TF2 different then other games is that a lot of your aim isn't just with the mouse. Especially with scout, learning to get yourself aimed in their general direction and then using your movement to dial in your aim gives great results. The faster the class, the more you end up aiming with movement. With sniper due to the reduced movement speed when zoomed you instead will end up with better results when you avoid going for "reaction shots" aka when you predict where they will be move your mouse and click in the same movement. You will see much more consistent results with an 'ambush' style of aiming, where on opponents unaware of you, determine where they are going place your point of aim along their projected path and then fire. Notably I've also taken to "tracking" lately. That is, getting my crosshair on them, then moving around them while using my mouse to keep my crosshair in basically the same spot. It's helped wonders on scout when fighting the slow power classes like soldier and heavy, and has helped me on sniper since taken a moment to track their movement instead of trying to flick to their head or quick scope them lets me slow down just enough to land my shots more consistently.

Way late to this but this is THE biggest tip I would give anyone for sniping in nearly any game: By default, aim where a target is going to be and let them move into your crosshair. This doesn't just help you relax, it's simply the most reliable tactic for getting hits. If you need to make small adjustments to your aim using character movement is generally the most controllable way to do so. As you improve at the technique you start being able to do it faster and faster to the point you can do it within a second of spotting someone. Two other little tips: Play around with your aim sensitivity settings, you often want to decrease the sensitivity a little. Also don't aim for heads. Aim for the neck where shots that don't count on the head will likely still hit the body.

I like lazy purple's advice, and I'm not a good sniper, so his video helped, HOWEVER, the thing where he shows another guy taking notes and another guy throwing a tantrum has a completely different meaning when there is 5 snipers who are staring into your spawn and head shotting you faster than lightning on a trade server while you are Invisible/Rocket Jumping/Running Erratically/Can't even leave spawn is a COMPLETELY different story and a COMPLETELY different set of issues. If you are one of THOSE snipers, then go join a casual server and see how good ya sniping is on a server of bots, not joking, playing against a cheat is the equivalent to the Casual server's bots.

Okay, one thing with point of substantial advice to improve your aim, you seemed dismissive of the advice of "your mouse sensitivity is off", but this is actually something that could help. Seriously, you would not believe how many people I've met who have their sensitivity way too high, a bit too low, or god forbid, they have mouse acceleration enabled, which actively changes your mouse sensitivity based off how quickly you move the mouse, making the formation of muscle memory nearly IMPOSSIBLE in shooters. Please, if you're having issues with aiming, just TRY making your mouse more or less sensitive, play around to find your ideal comfort zone, and of course, ALWAYS DISABLE MOUSE ACCELERATION FOR FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS.

In my experiences, whenever I picked sniper, it was to try and kill the sniper on the enemy team who killed me, and it just devolves into a sniper fight on the battlements of 2fort that does nothing to help either team

I mean why download a custom model pack for Source Film Maker when you have perfectly good computer models in a 2004 Valve title? The shudder when I fire was also an issue about it but as it turns out, when the game makes it *release* to fire, suddenly I become a machine. As a personal anecdote, my Dad, brother and I played a LAN game of Jedi Outcast and I was so good with the DXR-6 Disruptor that not even them teaming up could stop me, though that was probably due to a combination of factors, the map was wide open and I had a massive sightline in the elevated corners of the arena-shaped map, they didn't bother to duck and weave, and the Disruptor is more than capable of killing an unshielded player on a fully-charged bodyshot. Really, if they bothered to use Force Speed or even Protection, I'd probably get mowed down.
