I got lucky with Sony's invitation for their exclusive event for an opportunity to get a PS5. I managed to order one PS5 with Horizon forbidden west bundle for myself. It came today and got it up and running :)

In my case, I wasn't even focused on looking PS5 until I got the email from Sony so might as well lol. Why not? The only game I really anticipated was Horizon forbidden West which wasn't coming out until 2 years after PS5 launch. So I waited out the PS5 for that. I'm looking into other games like GoT, R&C, OW2 to play with my console friends and cross progression is a thing there :3

I just signed up for Sony's exclusive email offer thing. Had to convince my boss to let me take my lunch late so I could get in before they were all gone. Considering the supply issues this latest generation of consuls has had. I’m really hoping that this generation of consoles lifespan should at least be double what it normally is due to the sheer fact that people are still having trouble finding these consuls. Heck because of that a lot of games that come out for say the PS5 still have to be made with last GEN graphics because they need to also be released for the PS4

First off, shitty last Gen ports are starting to die off. Star Wars Jedi Survivor & Gotham Knights will be 9th Gen only. Its been nearly 2 years, yet 20 mil PS5s are sold. The blame cant solely go to the scalpers anymore like it did at Day 1, Month 1, and Month 6. Secondly, oh man, 9th Gen will definitely be longer. In fact, 7th Gen was longer than normal. But this Gen will certainly top it.

I actually lucked out on a ps5 after I asked a GameStop employee on a whim when the next ps5 shipment was coming in. He told me they’d be getting a limited shipment in 3 days so I decided to go for it. It was the July bundle that came with a charging dock, an extra ps5 controller (black), and two games: spider man miles morales & ratchet and clank: rift through time.

You wake up early when they put their stocks up online and see which locations near you are getting consoles that day. Some Targets sell PS5s everyday. Scalpers don't like to travel to pick up units, they sell out everyday before they can reach store shelves from genuine demand, but its super easy to get one from Target before they open.

Sony's biggest mistake was releasing the PS5 in the middle of the pandemic. That's why it was so high in demand because people couldn't work, didn't want to go out, and stayed at home during that period. A fall 2021 release would've been better. That would give Sony an extra year to manufacture more consoles.

Yeah I only ended up getting mine way back because a friend of mine who had more free time while at work was able to monitor those twitter posts notifying when certain places got them back in stock. I was too busy to be able to keep tabs on those and when one of the best buys near him posted of an update he did a normal buy and checkout and managed to get one that he mailed to me. If it wasn't for him I probably wouldn't have one still.

I was pretty lucky, there's a GameStop nearby and the employees at my location are actually pretty cool. I had a good reason to go in there one day (shopping for a new controller), and as we were exchanging money I just went ahead and asked if they might know when any new PS5's might be in stock. The employee let me know that on the next weekend (from that day), they were selling a small shipment of PS5's in person, first-come-first-serve. However, they were only selling to people who were part of their PowerUp Rewards program, which thankfully I make sure to maintain every few months. I gave my friend the same tip, and that weekend we got ourselves up early and parked outside the store about an hour before they opened. However, they were only allowed to sell these PS5's as $700 bundles (or at least, $700 for us because we were getting physical versions), which included a bluetooth headset, an extra controller, and two sports games that we had the option to immediately trade back in. Add up warranty costs, and the newest Ratchet & Clank game, and... yeah, it was super pricey. I regret nothing. Point is, if you have the time, try showing up at your local game store in-person and politely ask if the employees know anything about incoming shipments. You might just strike gold! But also be prepared to spend more than you anticipated. We speculated that maybe Sony had GameStop under a license or agreement to only sell the PS5's in specified bundles, which is out of the employees' control.

Since my manager (her best friend) also likes me, she immediately told my mom to call me (I was working outside the store, completely clueless). I rushed in, my manager dismissed it as me taking an early break and I got my PS5. It was a Walmart and no warnings were given so it was literally by pure luck. My friend...has never seen a ps5 yet. Poor him.

Truth be told, I got mine while I was stationed overseas in Japan. I could have got one on base at the exchange, but that meant waiting in line hoping to get one, during covid. I said screw it and bought one while we were out in Yokohama, they had a bunch of used ones in one of the stores at the mall, and it was way higher than US retail price. I paid over 70,000 yen for it and I don't regret it. The fact that they had used ones about 3 to 4 months after release is telling of how much the Japanese are losing interest in consoles though.

Sony extended me an exclusive PS5 purchase event with a chance to buy a PS5... Thing is, it was on the next day during my working hours. Sad to say that I missed out and have officially given up hope.

As a PlayStation fan i was very desapointed that i couldn't get one at a fair price, the store had 3 in stock but only sell for 800€, but they got the seriesX at 499€, so i ordered one and was on the store next day, got the gamepass to, and honestly with price increases on behalf of sony and scalpers i am very happy with my console choice this generation

I took me friends who actually work on the store to notify me a shipment on ONE ps5. Nerver had I got up from a nap so fast in my life to run at the store at the other side of the town to finally succeed and get a hand on mine... I got lucky because usually there was scalpers near that store at the time. I wish for real that someday this won't be a problem anymore

I lucked out and got mine before Christmas. Was my first time waiting in a line over night. There were about 30 PS5s that night and by the time the line started moving there was over 50 ppl. I was #10. The Walmart manager was awesome at keeping everyone informed so nobody would wait for nothing. Ppl still decided to wait for nothing.
