I am from India. I remember I was 8 years old back then. I was having dinner when the news came up on TV and it was all chaos all over the nation. More or less because Pakistani terrorists were involved. As I grew up this news made appearance again and again every year and it was getting clear for me that how intense this situation was. Not just Indians but tourists staying at the hotel were also affected and left with life long trauma

What an inspiring bloke. They way he spoke about it in the beginning saying “we weren’t even supposed to be in India when it happened” but then went on to say “it’s just how it is, the stars just aligned” and the fact he can laugh about it shows how tough he is as a person. Considering what he’s been through he still talks about life with such gratitude. You can tell this situation has made him realise the value of life which makes dealing with the wheelchair slightly easier.

Fascinating story, I can't imagine being in a room in that hotel in that situation with a loved one and hearing perpetrators break into rooms and killing them. I live in the opposite part of the country in WB and I remember watching these horrific scenes on television in disbelief. This incident really showed the lack of capacity of our defense systems, a terror plot like this could materialise at such a scale even after so many intel reports. All reports were ignored, and so many lives were lost. I went to mumbai last year, and saw the Taj Hotel for the first time, it is truly magnificent, and really is a destination!

I worked for the Taj for quite some time (began my career in 2013). I had colleagues who were affected by this attack. One person had lost his son who was a chef, another was in the hotel and escaped like the person in the video - he broke the window and was rescued by the fire brigade. He then went out straight to the hospital to donate blood to the injured. Finally a month later, he was part of the people involved in reopening the hotel. He spoke of scraping blood stains off the floor using knives as they opened the hotel.

26/11, this dark moment in India's history is so real for me. I was a student at St. Xavier's College, Mumbai -- one of the locations of the attack. I remember when the news broke at prime time across TV channels -- that terroritsts had percolated Mumbai's most prime locations and were brazenly shooting anyone in their way. I remember watching the CCTV footage of two of the terrorists at the Victoria Terminus Station, from where I'd taken my train home a mere 2 hours ago. I remember watching them move around Metro Theater, Madam Cama Hospital and my college campus -- killing as they went. I remember going back to college a few days later once security had been tightened around the city and classes had resumed (insert "Mumbai Does Not Stop" cliched line), hugging my friends so tight, and us seeing bulletholes where Officer Hemant Karkare was shot. I remember the silence of that day. I remember visiting Leopold Cafe and seeing holes in the walls made by terrorists' bullets. I remembering being glued to the TV for 3 days, feeling helpless and desolate that I couldn't do anything for innocent lives being taken, and reeling from the fact that it was sheer luck that my life was safe. I hope we never see another day like that. More power to Will for his bravery and for sharing his story.

i was an infant when this happened, and had gone to Mumbai (my birthplace) for my mundan. alongside other things that i remember as a child, i faintly remember the sound of gunshots as i was sitting in a temple nearby. it sends shivers down my spine to think of how lucky i was that day to have been away from the attacks. my mom too, keeps on narrating that story because of how grateful she is to have dodged such a tragedy. my heart goes out to all the victims and their families for what happened to them and how much it must be impacting them even to this day 🕊

When she was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome age 2 we were offered grief counselling . My husband refused and said my daughter hasn’t died. @evastapaard2462 I got out of the hotel waving down a car asking if they could bring me to a poor part of town and from there I made it to the airport where 100s of people tried to get inside, but we needed a proof of having a flight out which I didn't have like most or almost all people. I will not go into detail, but I made it inside and got a flight to Deli somehow. Gotta be creative in a situation like this. Like I said, amazing how life was still kinda going on while all this happened downtown.

You know what’s funny? India has been dealing with these animals for centuries & used to be lectured by Europe & US about the human rights of these animals. Europe has been real quiet now since the refugees came to their countries & mind you it’s just 5-10% of its population while in India it’s 20% and is surrounded by countries with 100% of that population.
