A lot of people in this comment section talking about "I hate how people say nevermind." It almost sounds like they tryna justify the fact that Niles' roommate just killed someone. It's not even the fact the he killed him that bothers me. It's the fact that he actively escalated and made the situation worse just because he couldn't stand the curiosity or whatever of the guy not saying the question. And to me, it's not even about the question or wanting to know what it was. He was just trying to assert dominance and make him do something that he didn't want to do. If you are friends or even just roommates with someone, you NEED to respect their boundaries. That includes situations like this where if they don't want to talk, you don't force them to do so. I don't see how others are lost to this concept. Yes i get it. Hearing someone say nevermind is mildly annoying. But you know what else is annoying? Having someone who can't let a simple issue like that go because they have the mind of a fucking 4 year of and cant control their own emotions and curiosity. Let me ask you something and present a hypothetical. How would you feel if you're in the bathroom with the door locked doing your business and someone keeps banging on the door to get in? Not even because they need to use that particular bathroom or the toilet. They're just trying to get in to see what you're doing. You'd feel pretty angry right? Because regardless of what you're doing, it's an issue of trust, boundaries, and privacy. You have to door closed and locked because you don't want anyone seeing or knowing what you're doing. And they are actively trying to open it because the want to see or know. That's an invasive and complete disregard of your privacy and agency. Likewise, when someone says nevermind and refuses to elaborate further on what they were gonna saying, that is the verbal equivalent of locking someone out of a house/room because you don't want them in there. Regardless of whatever is in the room or what you're doing in there, you don't have the right to barge your way into that room against their will. Therefore, using the same logic, you don't have the right to dig and pry to force someone to say something to you that they don't want to. The only exceptions i can think of is it's regarding a serious issue like money, someone's life and safety, or a legal case (civil or criminal).
