I've worked with machines that have similarly overly complicated looking films. It looks far more complicated than it actually is, and all the winding is just to make sure the plastic film keeps a very consistent and specific tension. And it's actually the least complex part of the machine.

Danone is pretty famous in my country. It is so famous that people sometimes say: "Mom, can you give me a danone?" or even danonino (From the same brand but drinkable, for little kids) to refer to yogurt. It's like saying coca-cola when asking for a cola.
