All that and they didn't bother to take the opportunity to explain that the double sheet rolling is why foil has one shiny side and one dull side. The shiny side went up against the rollers and the matte side was against the other sheet of foil.

This is the very first episode I saw of this show, watching the Science Channel as a child, and I was immediately hooked. Even today the formula is great. Yes the music is also fire, and can get very, very weird in some of the episodes. This track in particular is a huge hit of nostalgia for me.

I saw on a tiktok that the reason Aluminum foil is shiny on one side and not the other: during the final milling, the sheet is doubled with another layer of aluminum during the final thinning. the side that hits the lubricated rollers is shiny; the one that hits the other aluminum roll isn’t. 4:08 is the stage at which this happens
