I guess I don’t understand the need for a rebar grid in a sidewalk. That’s a lot of extra work cutting those and overkill for something that will just be walked on. If it was a driveway, I could understand the rebar grid. Those 2x4 stakes are overkill too. Try 1x3s - so much easier to pound in the ground, and hold up the forms just fine. You guys do solid work though! 👍🏼

Ground shifts. Keeps it all intact. That is the purpose of rebar

Awesome video. I for one vote for the rebar. Wondering why you didn't use a little more substrate? I am planning on 4". Would 5/8 minus be good for substrate?

I would see those hard angles in the turn every time I walked on it and it would drive me crazy. To anyone watching this, don't do that. Use some ¼in plywood. Soak it in water and bend it, back it up with some pins, and round that corner off. Craftsmanship is important.

Love your work, also to dare showing it on YT, - but never connect new concrete with old concrete, llike u do at 9 min. The house has settled 10 years ago. The new sidewalk will probably sink 5/16, or 1cm in the next years, so they should be seperate. / Also if and when u drill into foundations the hole should never go down, but up so water wont accumulate in it. - Other than that awesome work. - Greetings from Norway.

That was my first thought "what a waste of wood". Its making them work so much harder too but I suppose if its a one time DIY it's better to just do it their way because when would they even use the pins again? Idunno I was always told you use the right tools and do it the right way. There's never a reason to reinvent the wheel.
