In nature this works this way. But there is also the industry which mixes the honey with sugar syrup to produce more and cost less

Yes, honey you buy in the bear shaped jar in stores in NOT REAL HONEY. It starts as honey, but the part of honey that's good for you (pollen) is filtered out in industrial settings. It is best for you and your community to buy only local honey from local bee keepers to ensure you're getting all the best out of your honey. When you eat honey from your region it actually helps boost your immune system and assists in allergy resistance (your seasonal allergies won't be as bad) 🤙🏽

I wonder what purpose the honey serves the bees in nature? Do they use it for food? Why would their existence be centered on producing something unless it provides them some form of benefit?
@Bry.8910 ай бұрын
If bees stored nectar, it would ferment and go bad fairly quickly. But converting it into honey allows them to store it for as long as they want, so they can save up and consume it when needed without worrying about it going bad at all. Bees have a special stomach specifically for converting nectar into honey, which breaks down the nectar into simpler sugars, then they deposit it into the honeycomb and seal it after they cool it with their wing movement to reduce excess water vapor. So their bodies essentially purify the nectar into what we know as honey, and they keep it safe sealed away in honeycombs til they need to consume it for energy. Typically they consume it during the winter when they can't get pollen (which they also consume).

Lol honey is bee food
@altaylor2932 ай бұрын
@@Bry.89 Close. Honey is stored carbohydrates which they consume for energy when nectar is not available, not pollen. Stored pollen is called "bee bread". Pollen is protein for the honey bee which is fed to the larvae.

@altaylor2932 ай бұрын
No it isn't. The honey bee has a separate "stomach" called the honey crop. They put nectar in their honey crop and begin the process converting the nectar to simple sugars during the trip back to the hive. It is then given to a "receiver" bee who adds enzymes and completes the process converting it to honey.
