For people complaining about the video saying this is not how it works it's how it's made I totally agree with you. But you know what it works exactly like eyeglasses. First of all in order to know how it works you have to know why your vision becomes blurry. To keep things simple it's a matter of where the light focuses on the retina; The light rays come into focus in front of the retina (Nearsighted individuals). The light rays come into focus behind the retina (Farsighted individuals). The curvature of the eyeglass lenses bend the light rays as they approach your eye. It helps the rays focus on your retina, instead of behind or in front of it. The goal of the correction is to have the focal point hit the retina exactly where it should for ideal vision.

xilinor I literally just learned about the human eye😂😂 I did an entire project on it. I learned about myopia (nearsightedness) presbyopia (near sightedness that comes with age) and hyperopia (far sightedness) and how images actually are produced, you actually see things upside down but your retina changes them into signals sent to your brain which flips the image around.

It's not that complicated. Google it. Lenses of all sorts alter the light that passes through them. Camera lenses, the lenses we have naturally in our eyes, eyeglasses and contact lenses. When a person has near or farsightedness their eyes focus the light incorrectly causing blurriness. Glasses and contacts correct the focus by altering the angle the light passes into the eye so we can see. They just focus our eyes basically

Between 1952 and 1955, Otto Wichterle, the professor at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague, and Drahoslav Lím, his best student and assistant, worked on the development of suitable polymers in Czechoslovakia. The story of the discovery of a polymer for contact lenses is interesting and little bit funny. In early 1955 Lím did not manage to finish the work he had determined for that day, and did not finish his synthesized product and hurry to catch up train home to Senohraby. The next morning, he found that the mixture had turned into a soft, transparent mass overnight. Thus, a base material for soft contact lenses was formed. This was followed by a patent for a hydrophilic gel called polyHEMA, bearing the number 91918 and dated April 23, 1955. In the 1960s, Wichterle and Lím introduced the technique of producing contact lenses by centrifugal casting. This manufacturing process greatly reduced the cost of contact lenses and allowed them to be widely distributed.

Otto Wichterle teamed up with American Doctor Robert Morrison to manufacture and distribute soft contact lenses. pretty cool and yeah I'm sure there a nice amount of work that goes into producing a soft contact lens but damn there too expensive, like acuvue oasis at 340$ for a year supply change 2 week, damn!

My contacts aren’t that expensive. Cooper’s Biofinity. Think a years supply was $128.00. When I first got glasses, damn things cost over $500.00 and they weren’t designer frames nor my prescription that extreme.
