Don’t just point the finger at Italy. There’s been plenty of suspicious activity in the World Cup. Even to this day. 78, 98, 2002 being the most suspicious of them all.

78 was the worst in my opinion, though Menotti wasn't complicit. As folklore states..Their most democratic coach won given a backdrop of tyranny, while their most tyrannical management won in a democracy..Only the Greek and Brazilian Socrates share the same distinction..neither winning anything except eternal fame.

@@IrontoughItalianActually Portugal should have been disqualified..but their English referee chose not to see their infringements against Pele. Nobody would allow Germany to win a World Cup against the British, however the final should have been Argentina versus Germany. Tell me: how can a referee send a player off 'for the look on his face'? The Argentine captain no less!

They won again in 1938. Did they steal that one too? If you check the Brasilian squad from 1938, most players had very low number of prior caps. Most players from Dutch East Indes had zero caps. It was just a different time. The 1934 trophy has always been questioned, but the fact that they dominated in 1938 just means they were that good.

in that decade (as the previous and next), both Uruguay and Argentina were light years ahead of any European country... they didn't participate. It was literally an European league + Brazil (which was nowhere it would start being in the 1950s by then). Furthermore, Austrian "Wünderteam" had been dismantled due to Nazi occupation. Both 1934 and 1938 were rigged competitions (as 1966, 1978 and 2022).

you're ridiculous, Italy won 1938 too, and even 1936 Olympic gold medal, because in those years there were the strongest team. If you wanna talk about '4 star', maybe you should investigate on the 1954 final, when a depressed and defeated Germany entered in the locker room at the end of the first time, and an unstoppable war machine come out for the second half; start from the medical records of German players in the following years

Evidence is really anecdotal. Giuseppe Meazza, who was considered and is still considered the greatest Italian footballer ever, and arguably one of the greatest European footballers of all time, spearheaded this attack. Meazza was a great player. It's evident from the very little video of him we have and the accounts of him available online. The rest of the team was pretty good too. I doubt they needed to steal it to win it. This is more like a conspiracy theory. While Austria with Josef Bican and Matthias Sindelar was supposed to be the Wunderteam, quite often, the team with the most potential does not win.

Both nations have their methods to cheaply sign players not born in their soil, but Italy's makes some sense at least as our nationality is typically obtained via Ius Sanguinis. France on the other hand gives their nationality to fkn anybody born in their former colonies.

"Monti was the only player to ever play in two separate world cup finals", I guess you meant to add "for different countries", because out the top of my head I remember that Maradona played both 1986 and 1990 finals, and I'm sure some other argentinean player did so. And I'm sure this has happened some other time.

All you really needed to mention is the reff having dinner with mussolini the night before the final. The rest is honestly circumstantial especially when you consider how different the game was back then to how soft it has become today. All in all though very informative video. Only question I have is were there any notable missed calls or calls in Italy’s favor that effected in the final result? It’s nothing new for players to blame a result on poor refereeing but it usually is just an excuse as we’ve seen in recent times. Also yes I am Italian😅😂

Yea, thats fair, I just wanted to give a little more evidence and context about the whole thing. I think the most notable missed call was the incident with the goal keeper in the semifinal, after he had picked the ball up in his hands.

@@exhibit9020 yeah I definitely would see that being called today it’s just hard for me to judge because the game back then was played and reffed so differently than today. There are tons of tackles I see from the 70s and 80s that for sure would be called fouls and yellow card in todays game. That’s the only reason that I find that one missed call not as crazy as it would be today. Also the fact that I’m Italian makes it hard for me to be unbiased haha but keep up the awesome work I can’t wait to check out your World Cup curse video as well as whatever comes next!

That Italy team won in 1934 AND in 1938, in France. They also won the Olympics in 1936, in Germany, and another important international cup in 1937. They just were the best team of the decade, and they probably would have won the world cup in 1940 too, if there had been no war. so far so good but there is alot of talk about 'stealing players' ie argentinians etc but surnames like orsi or monti are per se italian and thats because alot of italians migrated to argentina (cf messi etc) in the late 1800s and all those that returned to italy were under mussolinis regime repatriated (even eligible for military service); orsi, monti and guaita were all playing pro football at the time in italy and repatriated respectively; orsi was playing for italy since 29 and guaita later fled the country to avoid fighting in ethiopia overall italian football in the 1930s had more going on than just mussolini eg winning the Central European International Cup in 1930 with a 5-0 win over hungary in budapest and if the 34 title was unconvincing then the defense of said title four years later in france most definitely was convincing with four players that prev also won the 36 olympics gold medal as amateurs PS eklind meeting mussolini pre austria is actually a fabrication (cf rinke & schiller p80) eklind was in milan and mussolini safe in rome acc to the facts

I agree with you using the word "stolen" doesn't exactly paint the picture best... but my intention was to express the fact that these players had spent a considerable amount of time playing for Argentina before switching sides. For example: (Luis Monti played in 2 WC finals and spent 7 years with Argentina before playing for Italy). Also of course it's important to also recognize that this team was incredibly talented even if there might have been a bit of help from Mussolini's strong influence.

I believe the Argentine Generals held similar over Menotti, who visibly went grey in the 78 final. Extra time saw a rejuvenated Argentine team scoring freely through bull-charges through the heart of an exhausted Dutch defence. No team scores such goals after 2hrs of play unless drugged. Those days, during extra time, players seized up with cramp, European team's conditioning balanced by superior South American technique.

For my few memories of weird instances at any World Cup finals...going backwards from Qatar 22... The disallowed opening goal😮 Russia 2018 doesn't readily jump out at me... Nor Brazil 2014... 2010 RSA- the karma no goal by Frank Lampard vs Germany in the pre VAR era...Asamoah Gyann and that penalty miss for Ghana vs Uruguay, was sad but not due to officiating... 2006 Deutschland- Poor Brent Sancho must still have residual neck pains from Peter Crouch yanking a handfull of his dreadlocks and tugging his head until his ears rested on his shoulder for Crouch to head home, in the England vs TnT Soca Warriors match😮the illegal use of the jumbotron replay to red card ZZ when such replays were also not allowed as that too was pre VAR😂 The Australian Italian match was also that tournament... 2002 dually hosted by Japan and Korea also had some hanky panky but the one that stinks is not so much the weird officiating and Rivaldo holding his face after clearly being struck on his knee...Olaf Kahn- allegedly playing the finals with a broken(damaged) thumb. Depriving his second string keeper of a game...mind you, the original Ronaldo, R9 showed great football IQ, both with knowing Rivaldo wouldn't feed him obvious goal scoring chances while going for personal glory- along with observing OK was not catching the ball cleanly and reacting to his spills- watch his 2 goals and make your own assessments... 1998 France- Beckham and the Simeone "murder somebody help me!" unpunished through Beck's back foul and the over the top red card for the flailing foot...oh and the alleged "fit/seizure", food poisoning of R9 ahead of the finals where he could have recovered for 60 minutes more(-45 first half and 15 during the halftime break) then come on and do the dog vs the less fresh French squad... USA 1994- Roberto Baggio- the Divine PonyTail with a hamstring wrapped in ducttape- taking a penalty that may still be in orbit😂 Oh and of course El Numero Diez Diego- yup his rotten luck was so unfortunate that out of his entire squad- he happened to win the lottery for antidoping WADO or is it WADA testing ... Italia 1990 and those heartbreaking PK shootouts that took the winners through to the eventual German triumph...trying to remember incidents other than Massing nearly writing off Caniggia in the opening Argentina vs Cameroon match... Mexico 1986- The hand of "God"😮...trying to remember if the German orthodontist goalkeeper's unpunished challenge on France's Battiston was also in Mexico😮😮😮 España 1982-targeted fouls and non calls...I leave that there- is this where Germany and Austria played the nil all draw when that result would take them to the KO stage... Argentina 1978...claims that marksmen and sharpshooters where not only on the pitch but on the roof of the Netherlands vs the hosts final match... Honourable mentions: Hack Pele in all of his appearances Also the expulsion of Argentina's captain for the look he gave the ref in the 1966 tournament...and of course- was that a goal or not in the finals vs England (which I alluded to as a karma goal haunting Lamps in 2010)... I am sure others may flesh out my limited examples... We have not even touched the bidding and awarding of host countries😂... I say this as a solid, sober and sane suggestion... FIFA has six yes 6 recognized zones/ confederations. Therefore, hosting ought to rotate between the six of them, which would limit bidding to within each of those six, on a rotation basis. FIFA touts fairplay- yet Oceana has to play repercharges against unsuccessful teams from other zones/confederations😢... Ah well, what do I know 🤓

Argentina 1978 - the main suspicion is around Argentina's game against Peru, which Argentina needed to win by a large margin. They did, but it's widely considered rigged. Plenty of YT vids about it. Later it also emerged that Johan Cruijff had pulled out of the squad going to Argentina after having had a rifle gun pointed to his head and having his family kidnapped. W Germany against Austria you mentioned already, but I watched that game at the time, and that was so obvious to anybody; both teams just not playing football anymore because the scoreboard was fine for them as it was. Algeria was left in the cold. Those or two of the most dubious world cup instances that I can remember.

The Korean one is clearly racial bias a conspiracy created by Asian hating Europeans, the Koreans were a good enough team to go so far. The clear instances of robbery & Corruption was Qatar winning the Asian cup against Japan, or in the recent women's world cup,Sweden playing dirty using dirty tactics to win. Or Nigeria throwing elbows doing dirty tactics to win.

How mentality poor must be the guy producing this short story. Those who lost ( like the Czechoslovakian goalie Planicka) a final in a world cup almost always try to find some excuse to explain their loss. Politic, referees, weather e.g. are the most frequent excuses. My father saw the final ( scorer Puc, Orsi and Schiavio) , nothing but really nothing went wrong. Italy was just the better team( they won 2 years later olimpic gold and 38 the world cup. Stop with political bashing.

Fake news and ridiculous bs ! Spain was NEVER denied 2 goals, lie and false 100% ! Spain got on the pitch starting on playing hard fouling and Italian players replied in the same way. The only controversy is on Italian goal as keeper Zamora probably was fouled by Italian striker, but shots are so bad that the action is everything but clear. About the austria games there's absolutely nothing to say, and the penalties are only in your pathetic mini brain. Grow up, football history "experts" .

Italy is never "involved" in stuff like this, in the 30s they were the best football team in the world at any level and any category ( olympics comprehensive) , that's why 4 yrs later they came to france to dominate and teach everyone great football ! That Italian team elected one of Top 10 teams in the history of football! At opposite Italy got unbelievably robbed and cheated of a deserved World Cup in 2002. We are no france, we never had a UEFA president and a President of republic who bribed and cheated to rig a world cup edition ( Qatar 2022) and the paris 2024 olympics...so we take no lesson of MORALITY and HONESTY from those who are the REAL ROBBERS and CHEATERS !

So what France was the better team in 2006? Best team doesn't always win. Ask the Portuguese if they think Greece was a better team in 2004. If the better team won in 1998 Brazil would have six stars and the French wouldn't have had a star until 2018. If we want to talk about corruption how about we look at the fact that Frances (until Zidane) greatest player ever was president of UEFA and had that presidency ended by being sent to prison for corruption.

Italy is the only team that can cheat and never get punished they went on to win 3 more world cups and 2 euro's after robbing the 1934 world cup while England robbed the 1966 world cup and got punished by never winning another major tournament
