I lived in the mountains of Colorado during the Poco and Loggins and Messina days. There was no radio reception there so I played my albums to the point that I'm not interested in listening to them anymore with the exception of Poco and Loggins and messina. Jim is a treasure.

I loved this! So interesting! Messina has an incredible memory! And you allow your guest to tell a story without interrupting. Love him in Allllll of his bands. It occurs to me, he must of been why!

A small but very significant part of rock history. Jim was a hella good guitar player too. Him and Rusty going back and forth on Deliverin' is bucket list material if ya haven't heard it. I'm late to this but I want to thank you John...this whole series has been way cool

Loved these guys my all time favorites- I remember how sad I was when I heard of the break up. I had pictures of them all over my college room. Unfortunately by the time they broke up their star had pretty much risen and their music was being bypassed by the new music scene. I and them were both looked at as dinosaurs- it was a different time for change and we didnt fit in. I find all these interviews tremendous and am so appreciative to see them. I am now 66 and you start looking back and glad to see stuff like this. Thank You- You rock for bringing it to us.

Thank you for this interview, Rock History Music. Jim Messina offers great insights. Not only a great singer/songwriter/guitartist/producer- Jim Messina has always been an informed and wise businessman. Turns out- because of all the interviews he has done in recent years- we have all learned that Jim Messina is also a very likable guy with wonderful stories. All the artists he has worked with and met make for many more interesting and informative interviews in the future.

These Messina interviews are marvelous. Thanks so much for all those involved in doing this, especially to Jim for sitting down and recalling his musical history. And what a history it's been!

Great interview John. I can't tell you how impressed I am that you are willing to ask a great question and then let the subject answer it fully. Much too often celebrity interviewers will ask a question and then interupt the guest just as they're getting to the insightful part of the answer due to their own ego. You're a true professional. Well done!

Hey John, I'm Really enjoying this channel and series with Jim Messina ! Over the years I've heard small bits of info about how he and Kenny got together and finally became a duo. It was nice to get the true detailed info from the man himself in your interview with him. "Sittin' In" is one of my favorite albums!

I love, love , love the song "Angry Eyes". They would remain my musical heroes even if they had only kicked out that one tune (the original long version, not the radio "edit"). Just a sublime track. 😎

Jim Messina is the true definition of the Consummate Pro. What a contrast to the “ME! ME! ME! of a Ritchie Furay. It’s no wonder Messina (and others) didn’t last long in Poco and why the band didn’t start having hits and greater notoriety until AFTER Furay was gone.
@samstevens71723 жыл бұрын
Wow. We get completely different takes on Richie Furay. A more affable, humble open guy about himself than Richie I don’t think I’ve heard. Watching Messina is like listening to a TedTalk about music business. I give Messina his props for what he’s done, but Richie is just a joy to hear.
@danjestic9199 Жыл бұрын
I think you’re both right. Ritchie was talented, driven, relentless in pursuit of success as a young man. He may have not handled that well. Time, maturity, experience, Christianity may have smoothed out his rough edges, as it has me. We’re not at 50 who we were at 25. Don’t we all wish we’d handled some things differently? .

Producers can, I think, make or break a good band/artist.

Kenny Loggins WAS in a band before L&M. He was briefly a member of The Electric Prunes.
