Nice that you have corrected your last view on DeJong. For me, DeJong has been the best player for FCB this season. He is finally allowed to be himself with the departure of Busquets. He is the beating heart of the team now, just like Xavi was during Pep's tenure. Now, when Pedri is back, then it's clear for me that Gavi will be dropped. Gavi is not bad, he keeps on improving and giving a 110%, but he is still young and learning and his movement is still quite static in the build up phase and offensively. Another player that becomes a bit one dimensional is Balde. But I guess he is still very young as well and lacks experience. I am sure Felix will help him combine and time his run. I wished Barcelona had a way to keep Alba just to serve as a mentor for Balde.

It will be interesting to see how the team pans out defensively in the Champions League. Last season saw Man City pivot away from using players like Cancelo and Zinchenko to more typical defenders who can consistently win in 1v1s. If Balde and Cancelo are first choice it may cause some trouble there

i hope we dont start balde and cancelo together against big teams. i believe we'll start with last season formation 325 i prefer balde over cancelo as a fullback and the other fullback would be kounde, but if the house is burning and the team needs more creativity in the final third then at second half, late in the game you can shift that formation to a 235, it gives us versatility

Yes, Felix is very technical and elegant with the ball, his play reminds a bit of Marco Van Basten/Kaka. There is a sense of ease in his play and what I see is, he is very much a team player and passes precisely when needed instead of going for individual glory. A right man for the right team and hopefully Barca win the UCL this time. I will not compare anyone with Messi though, as players like Messi are once in a lifetime.

Pedri won’t be an issue because it lessens his burden of responsibility on the team. Now that we can operate without araujo or pedri, they can really work on their injuries and return and ADD to the team. Rotation will be key, especially with them returning from injury. We have to protect them

4:25 what Cancelo does by inverting is, gives Frenkie options for passing. This is what he has in a typical 5 midfield with Holland, he has PASSING OPTIONS. Busi suffered when Xavi & Iniesta left because who came in did not understand POSITIONAL PLAY in a Barça system, so he was ISOLATED most of the times. When he was younger he could have played out, but it became an issue. Paired him with Frenkie and it was better for both players.

I've found that the previously used 2-3-5 in position changes a lot to something like a 2-4-4 in build up and one or two from the midfield arrives in the second wave (I hope English calls this the same), so more movement into space rather than occupying them initially. I like that evolution, seems to be more direct and enables more quick combinations with having overload on the midfield.

I actually think this is Barça's best XI: Ter Stegen - Cancelo, Araujo, Koundé, Baldé - Gündogan, De Jong, Pedri - Raphinha, Lewandowski, Félix You have to choose Pedri before Gavi or bench Gündogan for Pedri. Pedri is the main man and Barça's central piece, thats just how important he is. Pressing and intensive wise Gavi is a great option in midfield. I just think that Gundo and Pedri Are above in terms of decision making, creativity, maturity and offensive threat. Gavi is sometimes too much chaos and Barça’s Game is Control. Exciting team anyways, they have all the talent to win the CL.

i rarely comment but I do want to put an idea out: Automatism: The idea of knowing where "you" need to be when your Neighbour has the ball. Yes! DeJong drops to grab the ball and likes to drive forward. But it's up to those players around (CB, LB, RB and Especially Mid to read! DeJong's Movement. Many times, it has nothing to do with a player being open but rather making moves to make other players open. (Aso the idea of 3rd man: using an intermediate pass to get to the intended receiver. Think of triangles) Big However is that DeJong has stepped up to his potential and started to conduct the team becoming the leader we expected from the beginning. It's exciting to see him tell other players where they need to be. It definitely reminds me of Xavi back in the day (not quite close to Xavi's vision but definitely the player we need in that role).

I think our most well balanced midfield at the moment would be Pedri, Frenkie, and Romeu. We still need a destroyer in the back like Romeu, forward progression from Frenkie, and playmaking/composure from Pedri. And I don't think either Gavi, or Gundogan would throw a fit on the bench. And this is why I've been so excited about winning convincingly after so long again, because this helps rotation, keep everyone on the bench involved, and rest. If anything, I think the right wing of Raphinha, Ferran, and Yamal are trickier to judge.

Raphinha would be the problem there he's the only one that only plays on the right and doesn't like the bench. Yamal is the best in terms of all round quality, but still young. In a 2v2 counter(high block) with Lewa, I'd take better(crosser/final pass) but with a deep block, I'd take Ferran who keeps the ball better in tight spaces.

Im not gonna lie i was unsure how both João's were gonna look considering one has struggled in Athletico and the other was on the bench at Man City but both have shown not only to fit the system extremely well (which i was less concerned with Cancelo since he was with Pep last season) but have shown to be extremely smart and look like this is just the beginning as theyre still acclimating to the team

Pedri and gundo must be rotated, To avoid injuries stress etc. Gavi frenkie and romeu can be rotated as frenkie can play both gavi position and cdm.. This will keep players like gundo, pedri safe from injuries. And creates a disturbance in opponents planning.. overusing players has been Barcas problem. Be it leading to injuries or monotonous game

6:38 THIS is why Xavi was favoring Ferran over Ansu on LW. Ferran is VERY GOOD at link up play, he is just not comfortable playing from the left. Ansu "problem" is, he always things GOAL once he gets the ball. It is not a bad thing, but it can't work in a Barça system, you gotta use up the spaces, SHARE THE BALL, keep moving in to space to receive the ball for a goal. Do you think the Joao Felix role would have worked for Coutinho at Barca? I imagined if Coutinho was able to play inside like Felix that he would've succeeded. It's interesting b/c Jordi Alba is a known playmaker on the right side so maybe not having the right coach implimenting the tactics is why it didnt work out? Anyway, I'd love to know what you think.
