Thanks Floris, great video :) Favorite lesson from the video: "the most important person you're running for is the person you look in the mirror. Be honest with yourself and love the journey you're on."

Thank you for bringing John on your channel. Love John's candid sharing. I'm 52. No sports as my hobby until 45 I picked up running and ran my first marathon. Absolutely brutal for the first one, but I continued my attempt and started my WMM journey from a year later. Fast forward, I got all six stars and finished strong in Tokyo and Boston earlier this year. John inspired me to run a sub 3:30 with hope. I am currently training on 5K and 10K pace which takes time for me to adjust. I set my time horizon for two years and will see if I can run a sub 3:30 two years later. John's experience is encouraging for me to press on. Thank you.

Great interview. Very difficult to run in groups and do zone 2. I used to run on my own but its become dangerous. Found the part of HRV and alcohol very interesting.

The most important takeaways are strength training is critical and that no one really cares what your Strava time is as ur running against urself and just better urself !!!

Very helpful interview. My running career started 7 years ago when I was 55. I just started low heart rate training a few weeks ago. After doing a treadmill lactate threshold test, my zone2 HR range was estimated at 118-131. For my training, I run 60 seconds and walk 30 seconds. With this approach, I’m able to keep my HR in the 120-131 range. Is Run/Walk interval a valid approach to use for low heart rate training, until I get fit enough to run nonstop at low HR?

As a beginner runner, I’m really enjoying learning from your videos! Where can I find a shirt similar to the one you’re wearing in your profile picture? I love the attached cap and it would make running a lot easier for me!

Happy to hear that. It's a Pyrenees Hooded shirt by www.pathprojects.com with a Zion cap by the same company underneath

I am 20 kg overweight. My MAF heartrate is 137. It takes me 13 min/ km. Is MAF the right way to train ?
@JohnBirtchetSharpe3 ай бұрын
Hello @ashutoshlande07 . I hope you are in good health and are well , a slight misconception in your question .. there is no MAF Heart rate. There is a MAF range so your range will likely be 127 - 137 and so anywhere in that range is your MAF zone. (assuming you have no health problems or Injury) As to the right way to train that is at the end of the day up to you and what goals you have for yourself. I can advise as long as you are consistent and patient then you will benefit from training using the Maffetone method.
