These contracts for outfielders are exactly why i wanted the reds to draft a young OF last year.
@carltonvanhoy3999Ай бұрын
Because of the pitching market, and bias against pitching in Cincy, the Reds draft model is right. No one will be upset when Lowder and Burns are the anchors we had hoped Greene and Lodolo would have blossomed into.
@davidbrown013Ай бұрын
You do not draft for positional need in MLB.
@troytaylor9235Ай бұрын
@@carltonvanhoy3999burns will never be worth the pick because he won't be a starter. lodolo and/or greene light years ahead of burns

@davidbrown013 you aren't drafting a high school guy that's 7 years away. You are drafting a guy that graduated college who can probably help in a year or 2
@davidbrown013Ай бұрын
@ Right, and that doesn’t fill a positional need at the MLB level. This isn’t the NFL where you can most likely plug in a first rounder as a starter to fill a positional need.

Hey guys, what about giving Rece Hinds a shot at a full-time outfield job?
@JoshRazauskasАй бұрын
I’m still holding out the smallest hope that the Reds maybe have already had a conversation with Santander or even Hernandez and maybe now that Soto has signed they can meet on whatever is fair for both sides. The talk of money to spend to me feels like it’s not just gonna be trades or if it is it’s going to be that followed by an extension, which could be more likely. If that’s the case, it opens up a lot of possibilities. I’m really anxious now more than ever to find out which of these rumors are true and what our team actually does! I agree that Soto’s contract is ridiculous and I hope that you’re wrong about a work stoppage, but I fear you might be right.
@carltonvanhoy3999Ай бұрын
Any team that was serious about Soto and missed will probably pivot to Santander. I liked the Austin Hayes suggestion. I would target a young OF with team control, and package Petty.

Well the lower tier OFs O'Neill and Conforto are gone. So what's the plan?
@mr.e3506Ай бұрын
You don’t trade Arroyo, you don’t trade Sal Stewart. The rest I’m okay with trading. However if we can hold our prospect capital another season it will perhaps double in value and the players continue to further develop. I’m okay to trade for starting pitching because we can get draft picks for qualifying offers. We need a closer. The Reds are going after back up insurance options at the corner infield, they need another option for the bullpen to close games. Stevenson gets the lion share of playing time this season and he goes off. Don’t forget about our power bat catcher.
@zerowave144Ай бұрын
I don't see the need for insurance. If the Reds go get outfielders, then Steer is playing infield, probably at first, which leaves you with four corner infielders. The Reds don't need a closer. Diaz had a bad year, yes, but one bad year does not mean a bad player. Trading for starting pitching is unnecessary because then you are off-placing your young starters, who need more starts. Getting draft picks for not letting pitching develop is a bad idea.

Friedl has shown he can hit against lefties. Could plug Lane in with TJ on lefty days. That would allow Jake to not start, against lefties, but be a big bat off the bench or defense late for Steer.

That is the way it should be . Mickey Mantle said that no one is worth a million bucks a year to play ball . I hope Paul Skenes strikes out greedy Juan Soto 4 times in one game next season . And i hope Skenes talks to him and tells him about it . Soto is the most overrated player since Mariano ' one inning ' Rivera . Mickey Mantle is right .
