I'll never forget seeing Lebron's reaction during a game in his Miami stint when he saw Kawhi being subbed in. @michaelfarrow58175 жыл бұрын
He was clearly an elite player for a while. However, being a superstar is about flash and personality. He's got on with playing the game and living his life. No agent, no PR, limited endorsements. You don't need to be a charisma machine to get good endorsements when you're a good player, you just need good representation. When he wanted to leave the Spurs, it all felt strange and somewhat amateurish. That has stopped him crossing over and becoming a superstar. However, he's so good, he's managed to cross over with this ridiculous season. And with that the perception has changed. Rather than boring or dull, the public opinion of him has changed to respectful and humble. It's frightening how perception governs everything.
@darkinferno12195 жыл бұрын
Lil Rock 44 no...he was only a superstar his LAST year with the Spurs. He wasn’t a superstar in 2016 averaging 21 and he DAMN SURE wasn’t a superstar in 2015 playing 60 games averaging 16.5 points... People recognized Kawhi as a top 3-5 in 2017 because he...was actually a top 5 player. Can’t really acknowledge him for that when he misses an entire season and postseason.

@gabrielcarrasco84145 жыл бұрын
@@darkinferno1219 Numbers aren't the whole story though. Sure his numbers weren't elite by any means, but he was still efficient, and you could see that if he got more opportunities he would have average better numbers. In the Spurs system you are asked to sacrifice a lot. Your numbers are going to go down, you won't get as much publicity either, but you are likely to remain healthier, because the team isn't on your shoulders and you will also be in competition for a championship. If Duncan, Ginobli, or Parker went to other teams they would have average more playing for another team. They don't let the team flow through one player, because it makes them too reliant on one guy, and it puts too much pressure on them causing them to get injured more.

@TSO_Persian5 жыл бұрын
Well there is a fine line between a basketball player’s skill set/greatness and their value to a team. Ofc Steph is the most valuable to the team cuz he been there longer than KD, knows the system, and has more fans, and is a big chunk of their ticket sales. This was the case for KD in OKC. He was so valuable to them that after he left, they haven’t gotten out of the first round since. If he goes to the Knicks, he’ll instantly be the most valuable player on the team. Not because of how much time he’s been with the team, but because of the caliber of player he is joining that team that hasn’t had a transcendent player in a long time.

Spencer Macdonald not really looking at most of the ECF and even the finals he has tunnel vision and once trapped struggles to make the same plays KD Steph and Giannis and his stamina is a huge problem. If not for his ability to go to the line his offense would be in huge question. Looking at him honestly he still stands behind KD Steph and yes even Giannis since they needed a nation to guard him.

Lmao kawhi is a hof. He's a 2 time dpoy at the age of 27, multiple time all stsr and all nba and defense selection, champion, finals mvp, and led toronto to their first finals apperance. He's already solidified. Easily a top 3-5 two way player of all time.

WayTooLeetGaming lol never said hes not smh. Don’t jump to conclusions. I simply stated that recency bias is a powerful thing cause every time someone goes on a 3+ game incredible stretch, people are quick to call them the goat while they buy into baseless narratives.

He was a superstar his last few years with San Antonio. If he didn't get hurt in the series against the Warriors, the Spurs were probably gonna beat Golden State and then Cleveland.. maybe he'd even still be with the Spurs. He's been a superstar for a while, you don't have to put up superstar numbers to be considered one. They won 67 games that year
