Ke$ha was big when I was in middle school and her party girl brand got me really hyped for parties I would never get invited to in high school LMAO! I'm so glad she's doing better now as a person.

Throwback to the days when my elementary school self used to jam out to songs like TikTok, We R Who We R, and Your Love is My Drug when they came on the radio. I smile back at those days every time I hear or play one of those songs.

In 2010 I was in a "band" playing metal covers of Kesha and Gaga. What a time

I don’t know what 14-15 year old me got out pretending to be jaded with pop music. I used to think Kesha’s music and personality were both so trashy and therefore lesser. But every time I come back to her music when I’m older I just “get it” more and more. It’s so unapologetically fun. Especially “Your love is my Drug” and “Die Young” those tracks have aged beautifully.

Was never the biggest Kesha fan (although I did see her perform at Bamboozle in 2010) but I think a big part of her appeal as a personality was feeling like a normal person. It was hard to aspire to be Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Katy Perry, or Taylor Swift but Kesha reminded me of people I knew in high school in the suburbs and I think that made her appealing to young people who wanted to be brash and confident but who often felt inhibited either due to their own neuroses or social pressures.

I have fond memeories of this era. Tik Tok was everywhere, every popular song during this time was bright, crazy pop songs. I was a 14 year old who became a regular user of KZbin and online criticism and I remember music critics savaging this type of music, with Ke$ha being a massive target in particular. How much has the critical discourse behind her has changed.
@lexidarling2 жыл бұрын
Heck yes! Ke$ha came around at the absolute perfect time in my life; I was 21 when her first album came out and her party anthems were the soundtrack to my wild and crazy early 20s. I miss early 2010s pop so much, radio music is so full of downer songs these days. Ke$ha 4ever!
@quentinbringthenumetalchil51252 жыл бұрын
Annoying songs, as well. Not annoyingly catchy; just straight - up annoying and irritating. Songs you don’t want to listen to ever again.

Kesha’s original “Take it Off” video featured Jeffree Star. She re-recorded it and later very publicly dissed him by collabing with James Charles on You Tube instead of her old “friend” Jeffree. Jeffree then unfollowed Kesha on Twitter. It was big news at the time 😄

The late 00's had such a specific flavor. I remember when Cobra Starship's Viva la Cobra came out in 2007, the synthy party buzz of the opening track was like audible MSG. I hear a lot of that same flavor in og Kesha music.

Backstabber is a ridiculously good song and probably my favourite off her album too jfjf I don't know a lot about music theory but I can tell there's probably a reason why its like genuinely so appealing to listen to - maybe something with the progression of notes and the mix of it jdjd the whole thing in general is just really good

Lol I feel so old seeing the comments about people listening to her in elementary school. I was in my last year of high school when Tik Tok came out, and honestly Kesha's music was a perfect fit to close out that neon electropop era of music in the late 00s and early 2010s.
