The biggest rap beef of this generation was not just a battle of who made the better music. It was also a battle of strategy and IQ that played out on a worldwide stage that forever changed how both of these hiphop greats are looked at for the rest of time. #rap #drake #kendricklamar

Right! Drake really convinced people that Kendrick had nothing to "drop". It would be in Drake's best interest to not poke the boogeyman again especially since his public perception just keeps getting shredded with these reference track releases. He should go straight pop now, try and be the best there.

I think his personal problems though stem from not having a well-developed self yet an overly developed persona. It's not the persona who is whoring, drinking, popping percs, gambling and visiting the strip clubs since he's only got the one body. He isn't spending his downtime as Aubrey reading or gardening, etc. He has a child but not really a family life. He lives in a playboy mansion not designed for anyone else but that persona. Thirty-seven year old Aubrey should be about something but he's not. We're kind of just left with Drake.

The main difference between Kendrick and Big Nose is that Cupcake Drake tries to have this "clean" image and claim that he's flawless. But Kendrick wears his flaws on his sleeve, he admits to his shortcomings in To Pimp a Butterfly and even more so in Mr Morale. Ding, ding, ding. He even renounced the “savior figure” people tried to push onto him. Drake tries to have everything at all times. He wants to be respected as a rapper but has ghostwriters and doesn’t understand the culture. He seemingly wants the critical acclaim but puts out music constantly regardless of quality as a means of juicing his numbers. He wants to be the guy that you can play in front of your mom but also be this street dude with mob ties and “shooters” despite being a child actor who wouldn’t bust a grape in a fruit fight. He wants cultural cache but doesn’t engage with it beyond using it as a means of accruing capital.

Not only that but it's the fact that kendrick got help and changed his ways and point of views and admitted to it as brutally and plain as he could. Something drake still hasn't done and with the pedo ect claims is smt I don't think change can save. And also the main thing is drake doesn't understand Mr. Morale claims. He aims at it talking about how he though kendrick as a child got touched, how he beats his wife. Which was misinterpretation and a beating allegation that has no evidence or claim by kendrick to it. Which only makes drake look dumb and makes people go "woah?" Or "did he even listen to it?" And him also being on defense but making so said fun of the serious things he is accused of makes him a hypocrite. Drake can never understand kendrick until he changes, he can't understand art nor culture as he cant truly comprehend kdots words and he is proving kendricks point of that 95 percent. What kdot said about him pretty much everything has a digital footprint left by drake himself or family. His minor accusations are caught on camera, his so called fake hood life and cosplay was caught on camera, his prescriptions and receipts were on camera, his children's instragrams are on camera and they all met drake or been in a music video and look exactly like him unlike addonis almost everything kdot said about drake you can look it up and find video evidence

She did a duet with B.o.B for his Strange Clouds album. She also did a Collab song with Future and Ed Sheeran. You mean to tell me Future got excluded from that Swifties jab but Kdot doesn't? Also funny considering how he was gonna get a feature with Camila Cabello on her latest single. He wore the crown in Mr. Morale to crucify himself b/c he realizes that he’s not a savior and acknowledges his own faults. He also donates back into the community but does it discretely. But you see, not everyone has listened to Mr Morale which developed his character in the way you say. But around his TPAB phase he really was about that. Drake was never going to win over a majority of hardcore rap fans who'd listened deeply to K Dot's discography. His win condition was to use his wider pop audience appeal, and those kinds of arguments about K dot being 'fake conscious" might have convinced a lot of people who didn't know better.

Drake was also pressed that the culture doesn't accept him, according to him because he's "biracial". But then he also attacked Kendrick's wife for being mixed, like it's a bad thing. He went after Kendrick potentially raising somebody else's child like that's a bad thing. Just imagine that same line addressed to Eminem, like him adopting three other kids on top of raising his daughter is somehow a bad thing to do. Imagine thinking it's OK to tell a little boy "your dad is not your biological father", and not realizing how below the belt it is. He went on talking about people who were abused and molested as children like it's a funny thing, while being accused of PDF filing and fully aware of how much of his inappropriate behavior with minors is on record, with MBB and Billie Eilish and kissing an underage girl on stage after she told him she's underage. That man's entire thought process is dissonant. It reminds me of how people with antisocial disorders can intellectually grasp ethics in abstract way, but can't internalize it and don't apply it to specific instances in real life.

The crazy part was... Besides Metro, Future and guest features, no one else dissed him. (3 people tops. Weeknd, Rocky, & Ross only after Drake dissed him.) There wasn't anyone else he needed to punch against. Then you got Kendrick... Bruh... Why didn't you just focus on him after Push-ups? Because of the "3 switches," line? Nearly your whole second verse was for anyone else, but the intended target. Drake let a man start off a song by addressing his son. Kendrick came at Drake in the most nastiest way talking to his family. I've NEVER seen ANYONE do that before. Even in battle rap leagues. *YIKES!!!* No amount of bars could clear that amount of disrespect in a diss track.

You forgot another thing. Drake is extremely predictable because how does a guy like Kendrick who is never online capable of reading his every move like an open book? Drake is always online because he knows if he doesn’t go one day without posting, nobody is going to talk about him. That’s why Kendrick dropped that line mentioning his life is tied up to a Wi-Fi connection. That BBL Drizzy remix also validates what Kendrick says to be true and predictablity of Drake because if you look at the comments, people think of the 2 bad bitches bar.

Bro all your arguments for what Drake could have said about Kendrick don’t work because one of the strongest points and conclusions of Mr. Morale is that Kendrick is not your savior, and that at the end of the day he accepts that he is a flawed dude working on himself, choosing that over what other people want him to be. He is completely at peace with that issue, and took five years to make a double album about it.

The problem with Drake making a point of Kendrick pretending to be a black messiah is the fact that Kendrick literally released an entire album dissecting this point. Also, Noname already tried to make that point already, and it backfired on her when reciepts of Kendrick protesting came out. Not only that, but Kendrick was never comfortable with people painting him as the spokesperson for all black folk, and this stems back to what he said on "Ab-Souls Outro". That was back in 2011. Kendrick can't help the fact that he's black and grew up in hood culture. He's going to see issues whether he comments on it or not. Drake literally is the antithesis of this, and that's why even with that angle, Drake can't win.

I'd actually say mentioning Whitney and the entirety of Taylor Made were his worst moves. Family Matters, in my opinion, was his best contribution to the beef. By a long shot. I still think it's a very, very solid song. The biggest issue with it to me is that his best bars aren't directed at Kendrick and it's very apparent he doesn't have much to say about Kendrick, who is the person most people care about him responding to. His strongest jabs at Kendrick are all allegations. Call me a glazer or whatever but, even if you remove the allegations Kendrick levels at Drake, I still think he ultimately comes out with the stronger jabs.

If he was capable of accepting that his role in the industry is to help more culturally relevant people find success, he wouldn't be who he is right now. We wouldn't be here.

this is exactly it. Kendrick is NOT bulletproof. the angles brought up here are not even the best ones. (i think Kendrick being an industry "useful idiot" is a much much better angle. that thing about handing Kendrick a Grammy as soon as he opens his mouth was actually a good line, but Drake made it sound so salty 😅😅) but in order to use those angles requires Drake to be a different person, artist and have skillset he does not have, so.....

@AllTheArtsy Honestly, I don't even think he sounds salty. I still think that's one of his best jabs at not only Kendrick but, *especially* people who stan Kendrick uncritically. I think it's a great line and probably the Kendrick related line from Family Matters I quote the most. I personally think attempting to come at Kendrick as a pseudo activist was f*cking terrible but, he really could have made solid points about how people immediately hype up and see 928377383 layers to the stuff Kendrick says.

Not only that, “the mole” isn’t the hotel worker- the “mole” is actually in Drake’s camp. People just gave the Hotel guy the title . The Hotel Guy may have had the items on the album cover , but the way Dot predicted and slashed EVERY single move ( MTG being dropped immediately after Family Matters 😅) wasn’t anything the Hotel Guy would have assisted with.

As nasty as Drake is. Drake’s stans are a piece of work. That’s why this beef is starting to get stupid because grown men are so comfortable justifying someone like Drake being a pedophile or groomer because he’s famous. But won’t have the balls to say that out in public, in front of everyone. On top of that, they know they wouldn’t be ok doing it because they will be met with consequences.

A lot of your suggestions for what Drake can do to win would fall short because everything you said can disproven. Kendrick isn't a family guy. Kendrick publicly said he has been a bad person. He said he cheated on his wife. Half of Damn and all of Mr. Morale was Kendrick telling us his faults. There's nothing Drake could say to Kendrick that Kendrick didn't already tell us. So Kendrick isn't hiding. Kendrick has been very open about himself. Drake can't call Kendrick out for being a fake activist when Drake never done anything himself.

This was an amazing example of knowing your opponent vs not knowing your opponent. Kendrick just knew Drake better than Drake knew Kendrick, hence why Drake 1. Strong disagreement on "Not Like Us" not being a diss. You say it's just a song with a diss in it, when the title of the song itself is a subliminal jab at Drake. "Like That" is a song with a diss in it... "Not Like Us" is a full on diss in the form of a club banger.

Nah. The 'You're just like me' argument would have gotten Aubrey nuked. Kendrick is from the streets and Aubrey is a suburban Canadian. Anything he says to attempt make a point that he and KDot are alike would land like a lead balloon. And bringing artists along on tour w/him...everybody knows it was Drake riding on their rising stardom. That's what KDOT alluded to...Aubrey using the Atlanta rap scene (just one example) for swag/cred...in Not Like Us.
