Fun fact: The scene when Kenny tells Levi that 'everyone are slaves to something' is Hajime Isayama's favorite scene in all of Attack on Titan.

Its also very likely to be a inspiration/reference to Vinland Saga, Askeladds monoluge about slaves. And the line of Kenny asking himself/Uri “What do you see with those eyes?“ seems to be a reference to Thorkell asking himself/Canute/Thors the same thing.

I adore the contrast between the garrison adults being completely terrified and then it cuts to Armin and the rest, still children, dumping water on their heads all calm and collected and ready to fight. It's both such a powerful statement and kind of sad in a way

I always assumed the choice to not fully depict Rod's size until he makes it to the wall was to give the viewer a sense of horror since he's being revealed to us and the citizens of that district at the same time.

0:18 my best friend was watching attack on titan in class one day when we were still in school, he used to disable the sound and only read the subtitles. So we had some kind of workshop that day, and he started watching this episode which, right at the beginning, had a flash back to the scene where historia gets flung against the wall. Now for some reason, the sound on the IPad he was watching it on (we could use IPads in class for making notes and having our books as digital copies) wasn't turned off. So the whole room, including the teacher, just heard Historia's scream come from his IPad without context.

In my opinion, Kenny's conversation is not the point of aot, it's the antithesis. The point is to remove yourself from being a slave by finding joy in the little things. Make your own life meaningful by being willing to just throw a ball back and forth.
@DreamersOfReality

And what happens when a soldier comes, kills the other player, and confiscates your ball? At some point, "rolling with the punches" is just tantamount to a philosophy that justifies servitude. It benefits only the oppressor.

To be even more clear, not only does Eren yearn for freedom to the detriment of everything else, Eren literally set things up so that he would have the drive to kill whatever stands in his way of freedom, whether that was literally justice for all Eldians, justice for Paradisians, or a levelled world like he saw in a book when he was a kid because he think that lies beyond all the Titans. Namely, at least since Eren Kruger, “the Attack Titan fights for freedom” because part of it is Eren wanting that, Eren forced Grisha Yeager to take the Founding Titan in order to force him to complete his goal of stealing that so that Eren could eventually have the power to start The Rumbling, Eren forced Dina Fritz as a Titan to eat Carla Yeager so that Eren would have the irrepressible need to fight the Titans (whom he saw as impeding the freedom to explore the world), Eren forced Grisha to give him Titan powers, and even after all that, not only does Eren fight for freedom to see the world so recklessly only his unique set of Titan powers got him to the edge of Paradis, he insists on being a major player after the Paradis Titan problem is solved “because he wants to protect his friends” “because literally everybody else will put down Paradisians to secure their own freedom, and are about to invade Paradis”. That is to say, the fact the Marleyans are so against Paradis and invading Paradis and even conscripted Eldians are very much so, in a way, excuses for Eren to possibly achieve his idea of freedom, which may or may not involve a levelled world. And as Eren can influence past Titans and especially the past Attack Titan holders, he has literally made so that Eren is born with a weird irrepressible need for freedom. That is to say, Eren forced himself to fight for freedom and is therefore a slave to freedom. He has also traumatized himself as well, so as a side result, Eren is nothing but his traumas and insecurities about being unimportant despite the fact that he effectively caused the plot of Attack on Titan from Eren Kruger/Grisha Yeager on Wall Sina onwards. That being said, props to him for trying peaceful solutions for freedom, I guess.

People don't read the Manga extra pages but they really should. In those pages it's shown that in a peaceful world with no titan or "enemies" Eren is just a depressed kid bored out of his mind wishing something horrific could happen so that he'd be a "hero"

Nietzsche was a nihilist who believed that life has no meaning. I like that the show explores it by describing Sartre’s existentialism, which agrees that life has no meaning, but it gives us the freedom to create it
@Marco1995Mega
@Marco1995Mega 2 ай бұрын
Nietzsche himself believed that people need to find subjective meaning in their lives. It's tied to his quote, "God is dead, and we killed him." Basically, as long as people believed there was an extrinsic reward for good deeds, there was an incentive to be good. As such, even though he was atheist, he believed religion played a vital role in society. As humanity advanced, religion would become less reliable, and the whole "reward for being good" thing would no longer hold. He believed that would lead to people living empty lives with no regard for empathy or morals, which is why he urged for people to find their own meaning rather than relying on something external. Sartre was also big on this with "existence precedes essence", but he wasn't really the first.

Cuz i literally had an argument with someone about this, and my supporting thesis is that isayama tried to show us that perspective when mikasa and eren ran away from the fight and were living in the woods somewhere in paradis {or it could be marley} during the finale of the season. and hey at least you've got an idea for any new potential AOT videos your planning on working on. staay blessed bro.

You want some overanalyzing? This episodes (or chapters in the Manga) are pretty much the halfway point of the story. Now, in literature, there is a resource called "chyasm", in which you write the first point parallelling the last point, the second point paralleling the second to last point, etc. And the middle point is always the center point, the main argument which explains everything above and below. And... Yes, the whole "miracle" of being able to talk through your differences instead of going to war over it is one of the main points of the show. Wether intentional or not, Isayama did something really great in that.

I do actually like that the actual themes to Attack on Titan is found on the uprising arc. That is to say, if there is a common goal humans can overcome come injustice for a time. That is first shown with the successful coordination of the deposing of the false king and the installment of Historia. That is fully realized when everybody tries to resist The Rumbling and succeeded. But also, everybody is a slave to something. And while that is Eren’s modus operandi, it is not like Erwin wasn’t driven to find a basement, like Hange was not driven to find stuff, like Armin is not driven to find a solution that is peaceful and interpersonal.

A more accurate reading of the implication of physics would be that, at every point in time the possibility of many "outcomes" is present with specific probabilities and this is allowed to advance in time maintaining these possibilities, but when 2 particles interact with each other that is when an "outcome" is randomly chosen. The brain is a really sesitive machine that basically can magnify these truly random events. The only thing the brain affects is these probabilities, it can't erase the possibility of an "outcome", but it can filter them in a way that decreases the probability of certain "outcomes". I hope this makes sense. I tried my best to explain what I learned at Uni, but I'm not the best at English.

Hey, when I watched AoT, I actually had some associations with Dune. First, Eren as a character reminded me on Paul. With time event more: a young lad fueled and led by hatred. Then he even got this confusing insight into the future. And his transformation into the titan reminded me on Leto II becoming the worm.

At 9:37 I think that a cool parallel that maybe you missed, is that, when Eren is beating himself up: he could literally be trying to get rid of the part of himself that is attached to humanity; the loving and hopeful but immature and "unrealistic" side. As you said, he can represent both the hatred and the love of humanity, maybe this is the first time that Eren tries to "repress" himself, and as we see in s4, he manages to do that pretty well after a while.

For the wall damage thing, remember that titans are extremely light! They have basically no density, despite their size. Bertholdt transformed atop the wall and his ribs only barely dug into the side, nor did his weight crack the top of the wall.

As far as Rod hitting the wall and not doing a lot of damage to it, we do know that titan bodies are light. So when simply falling on the wall it wouldn’t transfer that much energy and therefore not break it open

Kenny wanted the founding titans power because he wanted to be as peaceful and nice as Uri was.

I always thought that "soon, this world will crumble" was about the Walls being destroyed. Since Uri is the Founder, he knows that will happen soon. But, I suppose that it's equally valid to interpret it as the Rumbling.

13:30 we see that with Eren in the attack on Liberio and the fight before the rumbling as well as the cart titan in the finale. I don't think the others have the stamina to keep transforming in quick succession like that.

My biggest issue with this episode and something that I think is an actual plot-hole is, when the scouts fly off to cut up Rod’s remains… what exactly are they grappling onto? There’s literally nothing higher than the walls. (Also I know we see Historia grapple onto Rod’s nape, but she’s really just using that to line up her strike, IMO. If, from the wall, they all grappled onto pieces of flying meat and tried to pull themselves up, due to physics and yada-yada-yada they’d just end up pulling the meat down to them, instead of them up to the meat, especially since the chunks were all around human-sized, and we know that pound-for-pound Titan flesh is substantially lighter than normal flesh, so the scouts would’ve definitely weighed more

Yup, I think all three very much fit the 'seer' archetype. Obvs they're not *exactly* the same, but the vibe is definitely there.

Would you ever consider making a video on Re:Zero? It’s pretty similar to AOT in some ways (the dark fantasy and brutal world aspect) but also being a very different story at its core. So I think it would be interesting seeing your thoughts on it.

Could the reason Uri does such a minimalist transformation to grab Kenny also be that he knows Ymirs fate and doesn't want her to suffer more, having to build a bigger titan?

20:12 A crazy thing just popped in my head... When Kenny was helpless, he was bowed to who was essentially seen as God. However, when Levi was beaten, he was forced to bow to who was later known as the Devil. Also, it is worth noting the different locations. Kenny on the surface. Levi in the ghetto. If you include Mikasa. She's in her home, in the mountains. And neatly enough, she's the only one to fight and win. Also, they all had knives but anyways... To stretch it a bit wider. I also just thought about how in Kenny's death, he's almost in the same position he was in the flashback with Yuri. This time, Levi is standing over him with a rifle AND branding the flags of the one he bowed to. Also, also, it's on the surface, on a tree, near a small forest. Levi should really just stay clear of forests. To stretch it a little bit more. Because of values and structure Levi had learned under Erwin. Whereas, Kenny eventually betrayed Reiss holding and raising him up overhead at gunpoint. Levi humbly bowed. Oh yeah, also, whereas Kenny's goal was to essentially play God. Levi's goal for S3P2 and onward was to kill God. Or at least what Yelena and her followers saw Zeke as. Who was also on the back of the single most powerful creature in the world.. who was also the devil. But when Levi completes his goal, he's in the same position that Kenny was when he died... in the aftermath of the battle of heaven and earth 🧐 Is it almost worth noting how in Levi's final act of defiance against god/devil Eren is him soaring down from above the heavens? He's also wearing white, btw... with a thunder spear... a mix of the knife and Zeus's thunder bolt... Okay, I'll stop
