As someone who grew up watching PBS Kids and shows like Sesame Street and who really loves Kermit as a character, that channel is deeply disturbing to me. It's so weirdly inappropriate, if I saw anyone I knew watching his videos I'd lose it. It's really disgusting to me, that channel needs to be straight up terminated. Versus why I love your videos, that go into actual Kermit stories and history. He's a really interesting character to me and I was curious when I saw this title video of yours. I was under the impression that people on the internet viewed Kermit was a somewhat chaotic but overall wholesome character, I didn't even know these disturbing types of video exists (Minus the Never Gonna Give You Up one, that one is just misleading, like you said.) It's pretty sad, and terribly dishonoring to Jim Henson. I wonder what we could do to try and reverse the damage that's already been done to this younger generation. Getting legal forces backed up by Disney involved seems like a good step, but I don't know what else.

Absolutely adored AreUSuperCereal and their whole little niche. I personally really enjoy these parodies of Kermit but what has irked me is that like always with parody channels, they devolve into targetting children. This doesn't just affect the childrens' perception of the character in question but also lowers the quality and fun of the videos. It's the same thing that happened with SuperMarioLogan.

SML came to mind too actually when it came to this. I think the fact Logan went deep into making his content edgy clickbait for kids and even getting on the news for it played a part in him getting sued by Nintendo. Granted, Nintendo are overly trigger-happy about such things.

Wow. This video was spot on. Kermit was undoubtedly my favorite Muppet growing up because of his honest and pure character, and to think that kids these days are experiencing him in this parodical style is heartbreaking. After watching Muppets Haunted Mansion and seeing Kermit’s somewhat limited role, it’s further clear to me that Disney is really making no effort to fix this. I really hope some restoration of Kermit’s characters will be made soon, but only time will tell. Thanks for making great Kermit and Muppets content my friend - it’s always great to see someone who still cares about them so passionately! Blessings✌🏻

I’m a member of Gen Z and I’ve been thinking this exact same notion for years! I feel like these interpretations are just a terrible corruption of a character that I need to remind you, a *person made.* Jim created Kermit, and this is what they’ve done to Mr. Henson’s legacy. I feel sorry for Jim. The character he made as a puppet you could share a laugh with, now only known for trash on the internet. Is there more we could’ve said? Because now they’re only pictures in our heads.

I actually asked Are U Super Cereal on a stream about what he thinks about Jim Henson, and he said that he loves Jim Henson and that he wouldn't be making the videos that he is doing if Jim never did what he did. I don't think he's a Muppet fan though (or at least doesn't know everything about the Muppets), as in one of his videos he didn't know who Robin was and says that he doesn't keep up with the Muppets, before people corrected him in the comments telling him who Robin is. He actually seems like a nice guy on his streams and he does care about his fans. I think he just makes videos for fun, he probably doesn't mean for videos to harm kids or anything. Cereal knows he didn't create Kermit and he has said it before.

A great video as usual! I think there’s a case to be made with plenty of copyrighted characters which have been used in videos like this as well, but Kermit is the most daunting considering the long history of the character and how it’s been incredibly skewed. Luckily there’s a sizable amount of young muppet fans these days who actually have a genuine love and appreciation for Jim Henson and his works.

It helped get me interested in The Muppet Show and Jim Henson's work in general (like the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film as well as The Dark Crystal). It's so weird seeing people just distort Kermit and, for all intents and purposes, Jim Henson's legacy like that, something I've grown up with knowing intimately.

As a clueless brit, the only defense he has is "parodies are protected by U.S. law" which is shaky ground to stand on. I feel like if this were Mickey Mouse Disney would gun this down hard, no-one messes with THE FACE OF DISNEY, but the Muppets and Kermit they don't really care for, seeing them as just another franchise. When you have the actual Henson family referring to Kermit as just a role that's played... you know something's gone seriously wrong. Go and watch Kermit on the Tonight Show back in '75, notice how he's more than a mere puppet... how he remains active and present even when NOT TALKING, notice all the little quirks Kermit has that make him human... well as human a frog can be.

So, funny enough, I was actually featured in one of Dai Trickster’s videos about five years ago. This was without my knowledge until the video was uploaded by the way, and I was not consulted beforehand, probably because at the time I was a minor. Since then, I slowly started making work in film, theatre, and television. I also started looking into and rather finding myself enjoying the history of Jim Henson and The Muppets. I had always appreciated Kermit and his friends, but more so as I grew into my young adulthood, did I appreciate the love and craft that goes into the storytelling and the meaning behind why The Muppets exist, and why they are still so relevant even today. Seeing this video caused me to reflect that change and I consider myself lucky that, even when I used to watch that kind of “parodic” content, I always had the groundwork of the original films and show and love and craft to help me recognize that it’s all for milking that revenue cow KZbin has so viciously created (and seems to turn the blind eye towards content creators like them). I worry like yourself kids won’t see what’s original and what’s pure intention today, as most adults and parents take the easy out of, like you said, shoving phones in children’s faces, so I appreciate this video and this channels existence because of it, as well as everyone who still appreciates the craft of The Muppets today. Keep up the great work, and thank you for making this, I’m glad to know people recognize how morally wrong this kind of exploitation is at the end of the day.

@@SomeBoiOnline while I primarily do theatre, I’m also currently in college studying for film and television. I’ve mostly been persistent on audition for extra work, commercials, and infomercials. It’s been a new venture, so if you’re interested in pursuits of acting I’d say film audition tapes and create reels of the general work that you do (and that includes theatre, as well as sketches and skits you create for videos or with friend even, whatever can count now until you have more professional credit to show off later). If you’re looking in terms of behind the scenes, editing, VFX, and so on, then I have absolutely no clue as of yet but from the looks of your videos you absolutely have the skills to find work in almost any arena that you wish to focus on! I hope that helps, I wish I did have more to say, truly. Keep up the amazing content, and if you remain positive you’ll be exactly where you work towards before you even realize!

This video broke my heart. But I think it needed to do just that to realize whats really going on in this world. I expected this video to touch on how the beloved character of Kermits personality has been treated as a joke both by Disney and the internet, and you did that but you also touched on something even more pressing. This being the damage to our children as a society and the trash we're allowing them to be fed. As this is not just happening to kermit, but to almost every single popular beloved character such as the mickey puppet videos, the weird spider-man/elsa videos, or even Chuck E. Cheese which is now known only as the inspiration for Five Nights at Freddys to this current generation. Well written stories and characters used to be something we cherished as a society, but with the easy accessibility of the internet, we've allowed ourselves and our children to submit to lazy, cheap and vulgar entertainment and to never question it. We NEED to do better and I thank you for being one of the few to bring this subject to light. God Bless.

Not the same but the situation does remind me a little bit of how Mickey was often depicted in 2000s parodies. Disney had tried to keep his character SO safe in the 80s and 90s he became completely generic. The kids who grew up with those depictions of Mickey didn't see him as his own character anymore, he was purely a mascot for Disney, no personality, just the face of a company to use to make fun or criticize said company.

The Jim Henson company has done such a good job blurring the lines between fantasy and reality when it comes to these characters that this honestly feels less like copyright and more like a form of Identity theft. The way these people go around spouting that its "the real kermit" seems so scummy and disingenuous. Society has agreed to believe these are real celebrities since the 80s so behaving in this way is worse with Muppet characters than with other impressions.

At this moment I would like to compare Are U Super Cereal to another channel similar to using kids characters or should I say channels. The channels I’m talking about are Tails and Sonic Pals, Gotta Go Fast, Emerald Masters, and Charmy Bee. These channels are not officially tied with Sega but they know their audience there is no swearing, drug material, or anything like that since they know the characters are meant more for a younger audience and try to keep them similar to their game counterparts. They also make sure to say they are not official Sonic channels in the channel description, video description, and out of character posts, and also showing the cast members of each channel in the channel description, and video description they have grown a good sized fanbase who know they aren’t the real characters but still enjoy it as they make many peoples dreams of interacting with these characters.

As both an education student and artist, seeing the state of children's art nowadays is absolutely bleak. While you do have, more than ever, amazing, thoughtful, caring and positive shows being made by people who actually care about what children see, you have against that a tsunami of unregulated content, and what i find worse, regulated, studio-owned content that tries their best to emulate the horrid tropes of these cheap, inappropriate and honestly dangerous youtube videos - many times subjecting children to abuse for it (like kid youtubers getting show deals) -- and meanwhile, those earnest and carefully made shows get cancelled after a couple of seasons because they don't make the companies as much money as the attention-span reducing over-saturated cocomelon style sh*t. The fact that the companies that OWN so many amazing pieces of art can't be bothered to make something thoughtful with them because it doens't make them enough money is so disgusting to me. It's obvious that large corporations do not care for art, and always try to kill it for a buck, they should not hold the rights for art anymore -- they should be physically impossible for them to do so, but that's hoping for fairness in a world where the powerful are burning it down just for more power.

I don’t necessarily like Are U Super Cereal’s Kermit stuff, but some of these weird one-off Kermit videos (there are similar ones with Goofy, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, and even Garfield) are really enjoyable. I get the negativity towards them, but it’s better viewed when they’re seen as the “unofficial parodies” that they are. I do get your point though; Cereal’s content in particular is awful. It’s bad for children and a slap in the face to the artists and puppeteers who put effort and love into the original content

So watching people take a character I love, a friendly, innocent, children’s character, swear, do disgusting things, come to even death, it’s horrible. He’s taken over the innocent frog we all love, children just want to see Kermit, but the algorithm has gotten to a point where it’s not even Kermit that comes up, it’s that..

Great video. I love the Muppets (real ones) and Kermit the Frog. Huge part of my childhood, and I'm not even from the U.S.A. (I'm italian). Me and my girlfriend are re-watching all the old movies 'cause she never got to see them before, and it's such a joy to see her falling in love with the wacky, heart-warming atmosphere of these masterpiece, one we can't see anymore in modern media, which seem to be obsessed with pessimism and nihilism and barely bear any significant value to them. I 100% agree with your comments about the dangers of having children being given smartphones from their parents. It makes me really worried, as a young adult. And I'm completely disgusted by money-grabbing scumbags like the supercereal guy, that's as sad as Disney not stepping forward to protect a franchise they own. At this point it's not even nostalgia anymore. Things really did get worse in modern times. Thanks for your beautiful and touching video on this issue, I feel like it's not discussed enough.

The issue here is the courts decided that this type of copyright infringement is okay. And this was in 1997, long before Super Cereal was even born. In 1997, Barney sued the san diego chicken for using his likeness. Barney claimed that kids didn't know the difference between the fake Barney, and the real Barney. But the judge (who probably just hated Barney) ruled it was okay for the chicken to continue using his likeness.

You've left so many comments, I don't know why, but let my try to explain it to you. He's profiting off of someone else's work for something so lazy, anyone can do that type of content, if it was with original characters, then I would understand that it's all a joke and whatnot, but this is destroying the Muppet's reputation, for those who love the Muppets, that's a bad thing. But for those Skibidi Toilet kids, they don't care, they don't have morals. You probably don't realize how much money areusupercereal has made from these videos. He is not a genius, he is just doing elsagate content and getting rewarded for it. Is that good?

@@TheLexoDex Not the growing generation. The Muppets have become irrelevant and thus people mostly associate Kermit with the omegle videos and stuff of that nature, nothing like the character that Jim Henson made. Stuff like GMOD, which due to the rise of Skibidi Toilet, kids have begun calling it the skibid toilet game. Though most people can perhaps tell the difference between the muppets and these parodies, children wont, and they will thus grow up believing that that is the real Kermit, or at least associating him with such behaviour.

Kids now days are watching about a mans' head on a toilet. I can agree that the guy who owns a Kermit the frog puppet was doing things wrong. Showing Kermit doing drugs for kids is terrible. Even the guy behind the channel was unaware that he might get sued by Disney itself. It's like making Teletubbies getting kids to do drugs. Not only that, but he really wants to show off his stuff. If someone made a channel for kids and they teach them drugs in a bad way, they might be doing something wrong.

Yeah, I like memes as much as the next guy, but what I don't like is when memes overshadow what they originated from. Like, just imagine you're someone doing good for the world, like maybe you make a powerful speech, people initially take you seriously, but then out of the blue, the internet goes "Let's meme this dude!" and as a result, no one takes you seriously anymore because they only like you for memes, rather than your incredible speech. I'm not saying you shouldn't make a meme of stuff like this, you can if you want to, but I think you need to make sure no one forgets about what they originated from. Because it's possible that someone's feelings might be hurt if they're not taken seriously, thanks to memes.
