Man, the algorithm really took off on this one. Good thing it did; You deserve it man! Was very well put together, and eloquently stated. Plus, you admitted to when you didn't have knowledge on a subject, And reserved judgment because so. Too many other creators don't do so, so thank you For putting in the effort

I disagree, I also grew up during this era and many of these shows got better by season 2 most notably being Sanjay and Craig and the fact that this guy never mentioned this fact is kinda dumb. Also I’m surprised you didn’t even acknowledge PGBCs unique artstyle and structure. Kinda makes me think that you never actually rewatched these shows and are just using points from other creators.

I was raised mainly with classic PBS shows like Sesame Street (pre-Elmo), Shining Time Station, Clifford, Kipper (not PBS), and others. When we finally got cable and I saw shows like Sanjay and Craig, Breadwinners, and Rabbids, I was just not interested and I thought it was too weird. And guess what, I still do find it weird to this day. I barely remember jackshit from any of these other than that one time there was a fart baby in Sanjay and Craig and that one of the characters was named Toughlips.

I'm probably thinking about giving up that old trade of mine before the other 90's/2000's kids would try to start asking me to go back to that life lmao. Of all honesty? I hate to say it but I'm probably starting to rather feel like watching Nick Jr.'s shows from the 90's and 2000's over the normal Nick ones anyday at this point because of the way these other Nick fans are acting.

@@adderae I don't disagree with that. I should actually expand on what I was trying to say. CN is best known for its cartoons, the Disney Channel with its shows and Nick was in the middle of the spectrum, offering both animated and sitcom good shows. Thus whenever it's on a "bad period" it can rerun those shows and due to the variety they can offer, they still remain at the top even with CN (the second popular cartoon Network) having seemingly the better cartoons of said "bad period". As of now though they overstretched that and soon they will need to either come up with hitter shows or wait it out up to bankruptcy. CN doesn't have that luxury since it doesn't have this luxury as they focus on cartoons only and the Disney Channel is run by Disney, whom they are more nitpicky due to its size compared to Nickelodeon.

At that point in those Sponge-milking execs who run that TV Juggernaut became no better than CN/WB (mostly WB) when they bought the Thundercats franchise since 1989, then gave us the 2011 failure of a reboot. Then they both go to a new low when Nick aired Rise Of TMNT (though more like Fall Of TMNT) in 2017 and CN aired Thundercats ROAR in 2020; proving both TV Juggernauts are handling their ill-be-gotten IPs with their a**es.

Cartoon Network brought back Adventure Time a while back with a spinoff and is confirmed to be bringing back Gumball and Regular Show. I’m often worried I feel this way due to the biases of growing old and nostalgia, but at times I go back and watch a bit of some of those older shows and am legitimately surprised at the difference in quality. The pacing was often slower, allowing for more in-depth exploration of the topics at hand. The characters were often written better, more like actual people rather than just engines for jokes and hyperactivity; you could relate more and thus get invested more. The humor was often more clever, giving a more intelligent and impressive air to the shows, increasing personal investment.

I remember Sanjay and Craig being so bad that it actually made me physically ill. So basically in January 2014 when I was 8 years old, my life changed forever. I developed these symptoms that at first my parents thought was a stomach virus since it was the height of cold and flu season and I was in public school. But after almost two weeks of none stop illness and massive migraines, I was taken to the local ER and in the first week of February I was there back and forth almost every single day because doctors didn’t know what was wrong and kept sending me home despite the fact that I was obviously very sick. Finally on Valentine’s Day I was admitted and I didn’t get out of the hospital until mid March and I was diagnosed with a rare chronic condition. During that time, I didn’t have much to do so I would watch cartoons almost all day long. I didn’t watch much TV at home because of my short attention span, but I didn’t have much else to do. One of those days, I turned on Nickelodeon and a brand new episode was airing so I decided to watch and what I saw made my stomach turn so much that it literally made me sicker than I already was. If that doesn’t tell you what you need to know about this era then I’m not too sure what will and while I know I was really sick to begin with, it’s probably not a good idea to air a show meant for children that has that effect on them regardless of the situation.

I’ve expressed my feelings on TMNT 2012 and ROTTMNT in comment discussions here, but the only other thing I have to say about this video is that I feel like Transformers Earthspark shouldn’t count as a reboot. I’m not as in tuned with the TF community, but they seem positive on the show for what it is. It has a different premise, and TF is one of those franchises that kinda always has to have a show. It’s like the jump from TMNT 2003 to TMNT 2012, where it’s not really a reboot (though it definitely worked as one, since much profitable concepts came from that show), whereas ROTTMNT cancelled TMNT 2012 for basically no reason, and Tales of the TMNT is just a spin-off show for Mutant Mayhem, and it feels weird for TMNT’s TV focus to just be extra movie consideration instead of its own show. Btw, shouldn’t TMNT 2003 have been brought up in this video? Great video though!

As someone born in 2005, who obviously grew up watching 2010's Nickelodeon, I think I can speak for the rest of the people in my age bracket (2003-2008) by saying that we actually loved 2010's Nick. It might seem more soulless now in comparison to its predecessors, but then it just felt right, felt lively, felt really wholesome. The cartoons and live action shows, no matter how brain-dead they may seem now, actually shaped us into who we are now. It might be the nostalgia talking lol, but I genuinely think our era of Nick was OK. Shows like TMNT (2012), iCarly, Victorious, Swindle, Nicky Deuce, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn, Game Shakers, The Thundermans, Henry Danger and Sam & Cat definitely deserve more credit than they got as they were really good. But I think we can all unanimously agree that 2020's Nickelodeon is absolute brainrot garbage. No real-life lessons for kids, all just brain-dead humour.

nah fr idk why they're hating on that era it was a really good one for nickelodeon. Definetly in the Top 2, 2020's sucks and pre 2010 was aight.

@@WolzenTwo No no, he's right. Not all of those shows were peak but they definitely weren't as horrible as this video makes it out to be. To say it was the most horrible era and lable them that you'd wish you could forget them is just outright a sin.

@@somisimons Fr! I like your explanation better!! There are shows I remember genuinely not liking either. But I liked most shows that I watched.

Even thought Rise of the tmnt was a reboot, it was definitely still an AMAZING show. The characters were redone in a way that didn’t follow the same old typical tmnt formula, but still kept core attributes of the characters. The writing was FANTASTIC and there’s always something new to notice about the turtles when rewatching it. Definitely recommend it!
