The og of music production!!!! Thanks to you I cleaned up my mixes and am getting paid for my productions. Big things up ahead. All thanks to your mastering tutorial. Stopped overseasoning my productions, aimed for the -6 lufs. Know about since 2016/2017, in my first year of serious production. Now you are my go to music mentor. Would love to party with you one day! Much love from the Czech Republic, Prague! BEEEP BEEEP

Gotta add I think that Sonarworks is on the audio from this video so keep in mind if it sounds rather thin in the end. Low Mids heavily removed in my sonarworks profile.

Such a great in-depth mixing video! It really shows how much the way we approach writing a track matters. Thanks a lot for another amazing video man!

I have also found that many presets and samples are far too wide to the point it falls into the negative when the stereo correlation is examined. To fix this I use Voxengo MSED. I turn down the sides to 0, and then I usually have to raise the mid signal. I mix the level of the mid signal to fit, and then gradually reintroduce the sides to taste. This mainly stops sounds disappearing when you flip the track to playback in mono, but it also helps keeping the sound/mix of the track consistent when you flip from stereo to mono and back. Obviously this is using MSED on each track channel that is stereo. 😊

Needed this video 👏Zen World, thank youuu so much. its much more clear now for me. You explained it so well. this is def gonna help vocals to pop, I feel like title could be carving out space for vocals or something cause I believe many prouducers struggle with this one thing " vocals'. I remember i kept searching on youtube to find relevant stuff and i couldnt find any good one. this is again by far the best. your content is absolutely the best no need to go somewhere else. honestly. Thank youuu

EQ Eight’s Oversampling helps prevent cramping in the highs (particularly the air/shimmer frequencies) which usually leads to sweeter or smoother sounding high EQs. The trade off is slightly higher cpu usage. The setting becomes redundant if your working at 96k or a higher sample rate. Fab filters Pro-q doesn’t cramp by default. I would guess TDR-Nova is the same. Dan Worral has a video on cramping.

Great video btw. You clearly have an ear for clarity. Ps. Q stands for quality not quadrant in an eq.

Hey Zen ive been watching you since 2016 when I started trying to produce music and you have helped me learn alot. Lately ive been going through a depressive episode where it feels like theres just too much to learn and that I started too late, writers block, all that stuff. It just seems alot like I make no progress and Ive been struggling with all that. Would you have any advice or have you ever felt the same?

My brother, it's ok to feel that way. If you are setting expectations with Music you will feel this way always. It's best to try to be in the present moment. I've felt similar feelings before and what helps me is 1. Putting myself first and eating healthy/gym. 2. Stop thinking of the future and enjoy the day we are in. For instance today I get to work on Sounds and Music. 3. Avoid Social Media too much. I feel you are comparing yourself too much. Age is no factor in this industry. It's about knowing your place in it. Let's say you get too old so what??? You could always create an alias you could always help other producers achieve what you wanted etc. Just try to remain in the present.

Great video Zen! Quick question, when using the utility plugin to make an instrument mono by clicking "left" or "right"... Do you know if placing the utility before or after other plug-ins (i.e. EQ, compressor) makes a difference? Or is there a recommended placement for the utility plugin?

I only saw one warp marker on that synth hit… not sure your transient length warping was doing anything. Aren’t transients tied to warp markers?

If you have that vocal on a drop with bass, claps and hats playing along would you scoop out some mid signal from that bass and drums? Thanks

cant you sidechain them so u still have the signal when the other isnt playing? i feel like that would be the better choice but what do i know
@ZenWorld9 ай бұрын
I'm unsure. I feel in theory it's cool but hearing it through my monitors it sounds ODD at times to have them dissapear and come back. I think it's more beneficial to have space in the mix for every element and select good sounds for the roles. If we pick the right sounds i wouldn't have to EQ like mad. I can see this working more for specific things like for ear candy and giving vocal space in specific sections. But when multiple sounds are playing at once on a section my ears gravitate towards EQ vs Trackspacing everything. Feels like a bandAID

oversampling stops aliasing, aliasing its a type of distortion that introduces unwanted harmonics. how ever oversampling can introduce pre ringing , so pick your poison
