Amazing how he adapts even as he ages. From young to prime LeBron using his body, athleticism, and speed to get buckets and be a tank to now adjusting his game by being a more reliable outside shooter. This is how greats stay in the game longer: adjusting their game to compensate for their reduced other abilities. Another example is Curry adding more weight and muscle and refining more of his handling the ball to compensate for his age and loss of quickness.

So if u watch Curry shoot from 40 feet, he doesn’t jump very high at all. It’s because he’s been able to synchronize properly the arm swing up with legs straightening into the jump. If you swing the arms up too early, you get into a 2 motion shot where the ball has to pause, waiting for the legs to catch up. The energy dissipates and you lose power.

Kobe looked at the finest bit of details to perfect his craft. LeBron looked from a wider point of view and looked at what is collectively effective in the league and used that to his advantage. The easiest way to put it is when games make a major change or overhaul to its gameplay, Kobe sticks to what he's good at (because he's maxed it out) and still manages to dominate either way. LeBron on the other hand uses numbers to his advantage and goes with the META.

45 degree does not give the ball the best chance to go in. It optimizes the distance of a projectile in a vacuum for any particular velocity.l. on Earth outside a vacuum, it's optimized around 40°

Well, that’s not what the data says. The Noah System, which tracks arc, analyzed millions of shots. That said, I prefer a little higher than 45. If you consistently shoot 40, you’re going to consistently miss shots. That’s too low

I am not talking about data from shooters. I am talking about physics. 89.999 degrees will give you the greatest chance to make the shot. When you track shooter s data. You are simply correlating data to the best shooters, it does not mean they have optimized their technique or aim or trajectory for that matter. It just means the best shooters are doing it this way. Optimization of the shot would come from the fields of kineseology, physics, and maybe I'll include psychology (from personal bias). But to draw the inference that the best shooters shoot the best way is a logical fallacy. What if you walk into a gym where everyone is taught to shoot by turning their back to the hook and heaving it over their head. Then, someone starts facing the hoop and drop kicking the ball. Data would suggest the best shooters drop kick the ball I expect. However, as observers, we have knowledge of "better" ways to shoot so the data should be used as a reference to how the best shooters shoot, but not necessarily the best way to shoot. Btw, I have been watching your channel for years and I love your work. When I am busy, I find it to be one of 2 or 3 channels to get the best info of not just what's going down on the court in the NBA, but also fundamental s xs and os for many levels of experience of the game. Thank you for your efforts, I appreciate you and your work.
