How Legit are Assassin’s Creed’s Hidden Blade Finishers?

More context on this breakdown: Most fights generally can be categorized into either: Duel or Ambush. Ambush is when only one person knows it’s going to be a fight while Duel is when both people know a fight will happen or is happening. The first four hidden blade finishers in this breakdown are ambushes, only the Assassins knows there will be an engagement. The last finisher with Connor is a duel since the opponent is aware a fight is happening. The hidden blade is much better in ambush rather than duel due its length and mechanics. However, Connor does a good job using ambush like tactics with the hidden blade during a duel, because he distracts and engages the opponent with the main visible weapon: dagger, tomahawk, sword etc… and surprises them with the hidden blade with his finishing blow. Out of all the Assassins in the series, we personally believe Connor is the most skilled assassin when dueling with the hidden blade. He’s also one of the best at ambush because he muffles his opponent. Ezio and Altair also have great ambushes that incorporates muffles, but aren’t as skilled as Connor when it comes to dueling. Assassins Jacob, Evie and some of the later Assassins probably have the most unrealistic finishers since they do not muffle and/or it’s too flashy. Realistically, a kidney or abdominal stealth shot with the hidden blade will have the opponent yelling for their last breath. Therefore, a muffle is needed so they do not alert anyone else. Then again, it’s suppose to be fun right? We just noticed the earlier games in the series did a better job in both showing somewhat realistic ambushes and duels. All and all, fun series! Should we do more Assassin’s Creed?

Great job. Also yes I do agree that the hidden blade is more for ambushes. There is one trailer, I believe for ac revelations or something that has a big group fight with the assassin using the hidden blade. Spoiler for the trailer: he lost. He couldn't adequately strike, nor defend, due to having what was essentially a wrist dagger.

I forgot on which trailer, but assassins were engaged in dueling but at a severe disadvantage due to the size of Hidden Blade. So I also want a vid about how to utilize Hidden Blade for dueling.

If they rushing you with a bare hands, a pocket knife or something generally small, you can definitely surprise them with the blades, but unless you're like Connor who can parry swords with his hidden blade, then you'll likely get sliced to bits against longer and heavier weapons.

Connor actually has a special hidden blade. There is a pin in the that allows it to swivel so he can hold it like a knife. It seems to have some kind of locking mechanism to hold it straight until he wants to use it as an actual knife
