In the Angkorian era, our ancestors abandoned the temples of Angkor Wat without fighting due to the floods and to escape the armies of the Portuguese Empire. He moved to present-day Phnom Penh, leaving only a small army to protect the heavily forested temple of Angkor Wat, leaving a legacy for future generations of Cambodians to know about their great past.

LIDAR is amazing technology. It is surprising to see the ignorance manifested by some of the comments below. I wonder if they heard of RADAR or ultrasound or of cars that are driven via ultrasound feedback to the auto's computer.

It has to be much older than what historians are telling you. Building material Like rock was far away from the building site. Needed a very large labor force to transport all the rock from far away. It must take them Many centuries not 40 Years to build such a huge temple. And must be much older than what the authorities are saying.

Planning of temple and city was perfect.geometry was well used.they know trigonometry.they done marking accurately more than with today's total station.

man made moat surrounded by stonework, inside and out of Angkor Watt the rock surface is covered with micro carving anywhere your eyes can gaze.

radar stands for "radio detection and ranging". lidar stands for "light detection and ranging".

it's not 900 years, it's longer than that, based on ancient animal paintings on the walls of Angkor Wat Angkor Wat was built by Namrud, the world's first architect. It is not logical for the Khmers to build because they have no architectural talent

It doesn't. Multi-pass maps the ground from billions of different angles. The trees become virtually invisible in the field of view.
