SAME! I was supposed to meet her briefly after a show in St Louis for a quick interview for my Jr College newspaper. When I got to the venue nobody knew a thing about it so needless to say it didn't happen. Waited for her at the stage door and got a blurry photograph. Then walked past her sitting in the limo and gave her a little wave, telling myself I would meet her some day. And yes it came to pass! Decades later she came to do a show where I live, in a smaller university town. Had some t-shirts printed up that said "quit talking about that cake!" and my partner and some friends wore them to the concert. I also wrote several paragraphs in a card including that some of us fans were wearing that quote on t-shirts and would be there early and in row four; also bought a nice bouquet of flowers and dropped it off at the venue and was promised she'd get them. Got there early, gave some more shirts out to friends and got seated. In just a bit a nice looking young and dark haired man came to the row, leaned in asked if I was Whit and I said "yes," with a smile. He said "stay in your seat after the show and I'll come get you." I told surrounding friends to do the same! She did the angsty teen-ager slamming door cake topic bit and right at then end before the lights went down she winked, clicked her tongue, and pointed at me. After the fabulous show as promised, he came for us and we got in line behind the backstage curtains. What's funny is that two girls that had hung back saw what we were doing and tagged along, I didn't have the heart to tell them they weren't with our party. They even inserted themselves into the pictures we took! Gifted Lily more flowers and a t-shirt. She's wasn't as tall as I thought she'd be but sweet as pie of course. She started to leave and I emboldened myself by saying, "hey Lily" walking up to her saying "can I have a hug?" to which she graciously complied, and I told her quietly that "I beat having ovarian cancer." She hugged me tighter and said "way to go, I'm so happy that you did." Then with her big Lily smile she nodded, turned on her heels and walked towards the exit. They were meeting up with some family being so close (an hour away) from Kentucky, their home state. Am so glad I had put that out into the universe! Love her to pieces!

This story made me feel really happy for them. Lily T was the first woman comedienne in my experience growing up and I have always enjoyed her. It makes me happy that despite how harsh society used to be about such differences, they were quietly able to make the choices they did. I deeply admire the women who take a stand for things, but I dont feel they should HAVE to always be warriors for their lifestyle or beliefs. They have given us so many gifts from their creativity & talent, I am so pleased to know that they could have this relationship for themselves. Good story!

Lillie Mae, Tomlin's mother, knew about Lily being gay and as Lily said in one of her interviews, her mother loved Jane very much. They just did not want to come out publicly as there would be many nasty comments from neighbours and distant family members, which will have had a bad impact on Lillie Mae. And also, Lily was slowly coming out during late 90' and early 00', which was way back before her mother died in 2005. She never said "I am gay, here we go", but public just accepted her relation with Jane and never truly question it. That's all from me, never less great video. I love these women.

Keep your eyes on DeSantis in FL. Every time I hear about new anti-LGBTQ laws, I feel increasingly ill. We’ve seen this movie before and it never turns out well. We want to keep patting ourselves on the back at the progress that’s been made but the fact that Republicans are actually baiting people should worry us all.

I thought her mother did know about it but didn't want her to be out and Lily's brother is also gay so I think Lily didn't want to make that "shame" any worse. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I read that her mother did know, its just that Lily going public would have meant that other people knew.

sin is that big closet Catholic priests hid in molesting little boys, that husband with his mistress in the closet, that wife beater behind closed doors, that father molesting his daughters, etc etc none of these consenting but you judge two loving consenting adults. Who is disgusting? You!

It is a HARD ISSUE. I have to go with scripture from the Holy Bible. It tells us the truth. Yet I have known people as tiny little adolescents who showed quite early they were gay. So it is not for me to decide this seemingly contradiction. Scripture does not have any gray. It is all light. So we mere humans who have all sinned dont look at all at all gays and say that's disgusting. We refer ourselves first and anyone who will listen second to Holy scripture. God does not lie. HE has all the answers. HE is merciful and loving to all of us. But God has the truth, and since HE is the truth I cannot argue and say, well that doesn't fit my opinion, my views . Thank God for God. Everything else is constantly moving and shaped this and that way they are moved into different views easily and love to follow the crowd. .., but with God/Jesus there is a Solid Foundation. HE has never changed. HE is the same yesterday, today and will be to.morrow. HE IS THE CORNERSTONE. Nothing we humans, His creation decide is correct will change God's finite wisdom. Because I'm doing something that God says is wrong, I cannot then justify myself by saying God is not just, HE is not loving etc. We are not here to decide God's Ways or what HE should or shouldn't do. I love Jesus. In turn I must try and obey and do His Will , not mine. Christians don't demean gays. We do not hate gays. To us a gay is sinning just as much as anyone else sins. All sin is an admonition in God's eyes. But discernment and judgement are two different entities. We hope to discern and never judge.
@yvonneplant94342 жыл бұрын
@@k.tinder8905God, Nature, the Universe knows more, is more, than anything in the Bible or that we can ever imagine. So, yes, it's not up to you to judge or demean or anything close to it.
