One of my favorite experiences in Osaka was finding a stand bar near Namba Station that was featured on Japan by Food and getting a couple of drinks before they closed, then walking across the street with some of the other patrons to another place for a couple of drinks until THEY closed, then going around the corner to ANOTHER place until THEY closed. We ended up visiting a half-dozen izakayas and stand bars that night.

Been at Misono building myself last year, and the building do have a vibe, such a shame it's closing down, though more and more buildings around Dotonbori have done this the recent years i've heard from a local, which is a shame, as many of these really old spots have so much character. Stil remember me and my local buddy was jumping around the floors in Ameson Square Osaka Center Bldg full on mission imposible style trying to find a spot that vibed with us. We ended up at Empire Kitchen and that was brilliant

Thank you for showing Misono Building it brought back happy memories of staggering out of the royal crown and other bars. It's a shame it's going to be torn down and made into something touristy. My next trip I am off to Mittera building...but it does not have Misono's faded luxury charm.

Coming from Thailand with my two sons for half-term in October. They are 14 and 16 years old and love this kind of food. They don’t drink, but do speak Japanese. Would we be able to eat at most of these bars or do they have to be of drinking age? Whatever that is in Japan! Anyone?

This i think is more about a timing issue, if its early and the place isnt full, you could certainly try and ask the staff if its okay if they eat as well. Most places that do sell food in japan also serve alcohol, so its not to uncommon, more about when you do it. Though not that normal to bring kids to Izakaya places, but try to be observant and spot where you see other people with kids / young adults

What do you recommend for a solo traveler to visit if I can stay over there for a month or so? Also if I book you, is it only in a specific area/time/ groups only?

Think they are more of a gimmick than anything else, though they do have lots of great stuff inn them so doesnt hurt trying. for a full month trip i would for sure take my time, bigger cities like Osaka Tokyo Kyoto, at least 4 days, as there is always something to look at, and Osaka and Tokyo i would recommend even more with ease. Smaller cities like Kobe Himeji etc i wouldnt stay much more than 2 days, as if there should be a bad day with weather or just being to tired its fine :)

Misono building was mentioned closing end of year so it might still be open, there are a couple of other buildings as well. And tbh, me myself didnt like Misono building that much, iconic it is though. Should it be closed then you also have Ameson Square Osaka Center Bldg. Though most of these bigger buildings with bars are closing down and changing what is inside Around Dotonbori from what i've hear from the locals
