Where are you from? I lived on every continent but never yet in a place where its "unheard" of to go out after 10pm. maybe its riskier, but usually those are just prejudices by people that dont know better. even in some asian slums at night youre more or less safe as long as you behave respectful, know a little of the local tongue and just dont behave like a complete touristic moron.

My son and i really want to visit Tokyo someday, im not worried about the language barrier too much because there are ways around that. It's more of navigating the city as a whole that worries me. I want to visit more for the culture and cool shopping, my son really just wants to go for the car scene. Since he was 5 years old and saw Tokyo Drift in theaters, he's 25 now.

This is such a nice thing since in the States most places do end up closing earlier in the night. So the fact that they have places for you to kill time for the trains to be back up and running is just super convienent!
