I've been doing the cold thing for a few years now myself, and I'm always surprised how difficult it it to get back into after the summer is over! Seriously impressive standing around for so long in bare feet while cutting away the ice! Keep up the good work and best of luck with growing your KZbin channel!

Nice to see young people discovering this. This hot summer triggered me to adapt to my environment With cold showers. With the same mindset I continued my "therapy" into fall. There is something compelling about mastering the elements and having your body picking up the pace by adapting your metabolism to match. To anyone : start young, I've always enjoyed cold weather living north of the 53rd (im60+++young lol) but with Wim Hof method it's way easier. Knowing then what I know now I'd never let this opportunity pass by.

I don't quite go to this extreme, but I do enjoy finishing each shower with only cold water for the count of 100. So invigorating. Makes me think of how happy my Border Collie is to plunge into cold water and blow bubbles with her nose. You can tell she loves it. Such a smile on her face.

I had weak ankles made evident by multiple sprains in football and basketball. The solution by coach was a 5 gallon bucket of ice water. That was really hard. I sort of got used to it. I had to learn to control the breath at first plunge. This helped me heal much faster. It also took much of the pain away too. Living in the great white north doesn't have to be so painful if you learn how to be better at it. My dad hardly ever shivered. Mom never stopped when temperatures dropped into the 40's. She was from Florida. Dad grew up in Minnesota, as did I. It is mental toughness that makes the difference.

Coming from sweden, I can relate. It is well known here that cold activates many beneficial things in your body that you would otherwise never trigger. Even as kids, my parents would always encourage to shower with cold water after a hot shower for 10-20 sec to build up the resistance to cold and activate your hidden core functions. Its a fantastic and natural way to increase everything in your body, including burning of toxic fat. I love that you bring this into the light in your channel.

Worked at a sawmill in Northern Maine in 1988. The warmest day in Dec was -35. A couple days we could not work because the diesel in the log loader was frozen.
@archael182 жыл бұрын
That's an extreme exaggeration. It doesn't even get near that cold on average here and I'm way north. You can easily find historical weather data for Maine in Dec 1988 and it's nowhere close to what you say. Perhaps you meant the "coldest" day was -35? That would make a lot more sense.

I started doing this 4 years ago to help negate my passionate hatred for the cold. It turned my hate into a passion. I don't do the breathing but take every opportunity to do the "ice man", as I call it. I can honestly say now that there is no winter cold, even up here in canada, that has made me shiver in these last 4 years. There is also no way that any unheated pool water gets cold enough in the year to even challenge me so I can swim in an unheated pool from april to november easily. I don't do the Wim Hof breathing technique but I do controlled slow breaths on first impact to get accustomed to extreme cold. Once that's over, it's almost meditative and more satisfying than a long workout. I highly recommend this to anyone but especially people who are faced with cold conditions often because it's even more useful for them.
