I lived through a flood back in 1973 when I was 16 years old. At that time my family lived 4 miles from the Mississippi River. We ended up with 18 inches of muddy water in our house which doesn't sound like all that much compared with your experience but still did a lot of damage and required a total remodel of our house. While you were telling your story it brought up a bunch of old memories of the things I experienced during my disaster. As you said, water is extremely powerful and dangerous, and a flood not only does unbelievable damage but can take lives, livelihoods, and shatters your emotional well-being. Being faced with your mortality can certainly change your life. I too, remember the "smell." We began cleanup at our house by mopping the floor with bleach and then just hosing out all of the mud (I bet we did that 20 or more times). I don't think the smell ever fully went away and we took every wall to the studs in the remodel. Life is precious, and your story proves how much your dad values each member of your family. Don't ever doubt his love, you saw it on full display that night. Tragedy has a way of drawing families and communities together. I could tell you story after story of things that took place during that time in my life as I'm sure you can regarding this event in your lives. This has obviously made you stronger women and strengthened the bond of love in your family. I pray that God will continue to bless your lives as you will obviously continue to grow to become exceptional young women.

Thank you for the frank and heartfelt story of some of your family’s history. This is what makes us stronger and the family bond stable. I have, in the past, marvelled at the apparent strength of the family unit that is visible in your videos, but now I see, partly at least, where this originates. You are all survivors and much stronger people than some of the “princesses” I see sometimes. Heroes one and all!😁👍🏆

I know I'm late to this video, but that was very touching. I could tell how much it affected your young lives and how absolutely determined your parents were in saving you. Oddly, I grew up just north of where you are and lived through a flood when the Tioga (PA) and Chemung (NY) rivers flooded. Lived in a church evacuation center for 8-days and my mother the RN would take the people the National Guard flights would bring in and check them out. I spent an entire summer helping clean up the area. That smell you described is still etched in my psyche and always will be...

Disaster preparedness is a REAL thing that we have forgotten. Everyone should have a plan for the top 3 MOST LIKELY natural disasters . ALWAYS keep multiple flashlights and extra batteries in every vehicle. I have a headlamp that will provide light for 4 hours on high. 6 hours on low. Every vehicle should have a backpack with one or two MREs, multiple ways to start fires, spare wool socks, and a lifestraw or sawyer water filter. Also a handfull of mylar blankets. Less than $2 each at walmart. Glad y'all made it out.

Agree about getting together, and we are fighters, but we should never turn our backs on politics. The only thing we can do is vote or revolt. That being said, it is super important to know what's going on in politics and vote accordingly. I say do your own research, think for yourself, and forget the media. They are the ones dividing us.

I understand your Dad's unstoppable determination. A man's family is his soul and no father would not give his last breath for that family he holds dear. This I know because I had to literally carry my 3 year old daughter out of the midst of a devastating cat 3 tornado and my only direction was dependence on God.. though much was lost, my daughter as well as myself were safe with just minor injuries. It truly doesn't matter to me what others think, Jesus has given us an inestimable gift by having access to God Himself through himself. I believe that is what kept and protected me and my young daughter, and as I reckon that is what gave your Dad the strength and direction to get you guys out.... As we may be father's to our children, then so is God to us... Matthew 7... Vaelin

Thanks for sharing your stories. I was wondering about the rain there in "meet the team" video. Keep up the great work y'all. The first time I saw the phosphorous moss was in Tennessee it was in a thick, high canopy forest. It gets really dark even when it's not raining. If you fortunate on one of your vacations at the beach you can experience tiny phosphorous baby jelly fish, the size of peas. Swimming at night with those glowing jellies is like living out some fantastic story book. Thanks again for bringing sunshine. Cheers!

I took me 3 times to watch this video it brought back scary memories to me, I survived being trapped underwater in my car in 1982. I tried twice to get out, water was filling the inside of the car up, I put my head down and said Lord help, my next conscious thought was that I was walking through water. I went to my friends house and he and his dad went to the scene and found my car 150 down the road with all windows up and all doors locked. Devine intervention? I'm glad you all made it out ok. Just came across your video. Can’t imagine what your family went through. I’ve subscribed. Now being 71 years old I took a nap soon after. I left You tube playing. I woke up to a beautiful piano playing. And looked at the screen to see who it was. There was a bible verse across the screen which accompanied the piano. It read “ When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not over take you….. Isaiah 43 : 2. Now that was awesome . That verse stayed there for awhile as the piano continued. Had to share that with you.

He wrote that he had never been lost, but he was confused a few times. This is back when men were men and women were manly !

The power of water is amazing. I lived near a creek for a while I learned quick to watch the weather constantly and if they called for heavy rain to watch the creek. I had 2 points I watched. Water reached the first point I started putting stuff in the house up high. It reached the 2nd point I took the family out. Got flooded 2 or 3 times. Thank God I wasn't the only one who saw glowing branches and mushroom at the time of my fiery trial more worst that death itself. It happened in the darkest moments of my life, and I saw those glowing branches and mushroom in pitch black darkness at four different mountains I climb alone out of my deep sorrow and despair. But I kept my faith in God. This is his way of giving us a little spark of hope, a hint of light that is within us(since we are also compared to plants by God) which will glow and make our spirits shine in the darkest of times that the Devil brings to our lives. Now is stil night for the Lord, the day only comes for when his son returns to uproot all evil in this world. Stay true and keep the faith in God, love lots. More blessings to come for your family. Keep safe guys I enjoyed watching your videos ❤️❤️❤️ Isaiah 60 King James Version (KJV) 21 Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. 22 A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will hasten it in his time. Psalm 1 King James Version (KJV) 1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Isaiah 53 King James Version (KJV) 2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. Ezekiel 17 King James Version (KJV) 24 And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.

That house was where I grew up we went through 1972 and 1975 and other floods but that one was the worst. The little town of Barbours has never been the same. The house had water in the basement before but never in the house itself. On another note I enjoy your videos because I grew up next to the sawmill that was next to your house. I worked on the mill in the woods and in the pallet mill so I can appreciate what you guys do. Keep up the good work.

Watching this I’m expecting Eric, Jackie, and Kelso from that 70s Show to strut into the room.

"During the first week of September in 2011, heavy rain from the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee, led to historic flooding in the Mid-Atlantic Region and especially Central Pennsylvania. The flooding was exacerbated by the saturated soil from previous heavy rain, just a week earlier from Hurricane Irene. The extensive damage caused by the flooding had not been seen since Hurricane Agnes devastated the area back in 1972. Rivers overflowed their banks, towns flooded, bridges washed away. A total of 15 people lost their lives as a result of the flooding, including 7 from Pennsylvania. The majority of these people were in vehicles trying to cross flooded roadways and were swept away. In Pennsylvania, over 16,000 homes and businesses received at least minor damage, including over 1,000 homes and businesses that were completely destroyed. Total estimated damage costs from Tropical Storm Lee are over $2 billion" - National Weather Service, in 2015
